This Ukraine temporary crisis is making the Biden regime look like amateurs.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday that Russia's military invasion of Ukraine is likely only part of Russian President Vladimir Putin's designs for the European continent.

Politico reported Thursday that Putin was "playing Biden all along." Reuters, too, reported that Biden's negotiating returned zero results.

They applied not even "medium" level sanctions, which must have Putin rolling on the floor in laughter

There are sanctions the West could have applied that would cripple him, but the balls to do that are missing

https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2022/01/21/russia-sanctions-stop-putin-energy-markets-us-invasion-527524">Bending Russia's macroeconomic fortunes — and Putin's calculus — would have required targeting the country's financial system as well as key exports such as oil. Such sanctions would have significant effects on Russia's economy and perhaps on the global financial system, which is why U.S. officials have been hesitant to go this far. But averting a war is a tall order and, unfortunately, wouldn't have been  cost-free.

"Smart" or "targeted" sanctions won't work. and aren't

To really impose pain on Russia, the U.S. and Europe will have to bear some burden, too — although, fortunately, there are ways to minimize the fallout for Western economies.

At this moment of maximum leverage (now mainly gone as attack has begun) , the U.S. would have had to signal clearly that if Putin orders an invasion, it would have quickly imposed massive, immediate costs on the Russian economy as a whole, not just a few limited targets. It was up to the Biden administration to show it was prepared to absorb some economic and political damage to prevent Putin from choosing war.

Er... before you go wailing on Biden and Europe for "meekness" (and you will know I am no Biden fan), imposing the harshest responses from the get go will in itself create a problem.

You will have spent all your ammunition before the game is over.

The West will not impose maximum force yet because it will need something in its pocket if they can get Russia to the negotiating table. It must hold back on some measures to encourage an opportunity for diplomacy.

It's how the game is played.

Canada supports cutting them off the "Swift" system which would hurt

Again, "would have been" strong & effective  .. but now late outa the gate

I got to hand it to old Putin, he is a smart mofo. He goes and signs trade deals with India, China, South Korea and some other Asian countries to increase wheat and energy exports to offset European sanctions. He starts using cryptocurrency as payment. All of this well before he started massing troops on Ukraine's border.

While definitely all good moves, I see all of them merely as "what one would naturally do" & obvious .. nothing requiring special brilliance

Crypto is where the fun "could" start ... the very top hackers are going 24/7

Once again, Russell offers commentary that will make people think.

In effect, what he says here is that Western outrage at Russia is hypocrisy based on their own history of military actions, and ignores the fact that NATO refuses to address Russia's strategic defence concerns.

But he also offers opinions on how our own attitudes towards our nation and communities feeds into government malpractices.

Only watch if you have a spare 20 minutes...and with an open mind.

This has been building since 2014.

One could say since 2008. But, it got kicked into high gear and right under the noses of Washington and Brussels last year.

Putin should have said that he is gonna remove white supremacy and systemic racism from Ukraine.

Western leaders are forced to support that.

Throw in trannies can use girls washrooms and the fruity US and Europe would send troops to assist Russia.

Russian or Ukrainian, why would they do that?

That is reminiscent of the atrocities the Japanese Imperial Army committed in the countries they conquered over eighty years ago.
