No sense on bombing the hell out of a place if you intend to take possession of it, it's just more stuff you'd have to clean up. But Putin does seem to be getting bogged down though.

They don't intend to take possession of Ukraine. They do not want the infrastructure destroyed either.

I respect & I'm interested in your takes on it but don't understand what you just said

1. "They don't intend to take possession of Ukraine. " - What do they intend??

2. "They do not want the infrastructure destroyed either."  - But they are doing that

3. From your take on it, what do they intend to achieve as end-result?

!. They aint going to rebuild the USSR or czarist Russia. There will be a new Uke president who will not do the West's bidding. Kind of like the relationship between Russia and Belarus or Russia and Kazakhstan.

2. I disagree. Moscow has held back in order to preserve bridges, airports, roads and so on.

I believe it would be a lot easier to keep the Ukraine in Moscow's sphere of influence if Moscow had a stronger economy. They cannot offer the incentives to stay in their orbit the way NATO or the EU can.

Definitely. Ukrainians prefer membership in the EU over NATO. The reason is simple-goodies Brussels can offer that Moscow cannot. So ya, Russia and Ukraine should have focused on growth.

I don't want the Ukraine joining the EU, but NATO is totally unacceptable. I want the Slavic culture to survive. It's hard to do that with meddling from Brussels. Although Poland is putting up a hell of a fight.

It seems those former communist countries that joined the EU are always at odds with Brussels. Immigration is one of the big differences of opinion, but there are others too.

It wasn't that long ago the West considered the leader of Ukraine a corrupt thug. Fuck, we're getting fed a lot of horseshit.

I love that.

An American claiming another nation is NOT a democracy because of political corruption and autocracy.

Americans should keep their opinions of other people's form of democratic management to themselves, at least until they clean up the corruption, prejudices and shadowy practices of their own "government".

Fucking idiot.

Tulsiis exposing the hypocrisy. Ukraine has never really been a democracy and the West accepted that. Suddenly Ukraine is a democracy and Zelenskyy a model leader. It's all bullshit.
