This focus on the poster instead of the post is ruining message boards.

Unfortunately, anon posting doesn't really solve it.  People whose only purpose is to make personal insults just start guessing identities. Personal insults may be better kept to a minimum by moderating those individuals that can't manage to do anything else with their posting opportunities.

I know totally anonymous is not a magic cure for what ails message boards. I gather some of the flamers have been posting together for fifteen years or more. Repetitive personal insults are all they know. But, I still believe it might help put the emphasis on the post instead of the poster.
