How long do these things live?

You can win him over and charm him. Study up and learn about Amazon's.

When you get him, get him set up in his space and completely leave him alone for a few days. Then start sitting by the cage to have coffee, read, talk to him. Start offering treats. Give him time and go at his pace and he will swoon.  They make people earn it lol.

 I love parrots ♡

They can live up to 35 years in captivity.

The person that has him now is the second owner, but she has had him for most of the parrot's life..

I've read that double yellow Amazons are known to be loyal to their owners only and don't take to strangers.

This is a fifteen year old double yellow Amazon parrot..

The owner is no longer able to keep this adorable bird and I'm thinking of adopting him..

There is a problem.....he doesn't like anybody except his owner.......what to do, what to do.

I've seen these parrots flying free in Panama.

Between sixty and eighty five years.

What the hell.

I was thinking that 15 years old is an old parrot.

My children will inherit it.....maybe my future grandchildren.

Most parrots are like that. You gotta win them over. They are great pets though!

Double yellow Amazons are noted for that kind of loyalty to their owners and hostility to everybody else.

I couldn't own a bird.  They're loud and dirty and my cats would probably eat them.

Frood

I've got a pair of Magpies at work and another pair at home which fly up to my feet and eat biscuits, nuts, or unwanted bits of a sandwich out of my fingers.

These fuckers never ever forget a place where they got a safe and free meal.   ac_biggrin

I think you'd have a lot more fun getting a baby cockatiel of your own.
