Quote from: Shen Li on February 08, 2025, 01:10:51 AMThe appointment of singer-songwriter Buffy Sainte-Marie to the Order of Canada has been terminated by the Governor General.

The move was announced in the Canada Gazette, the federal government newspaper.

It says the appointment was terminated by an ordinance signed by Gov. Gen. Mary Simon on Jan. 3.

The move comes after a CBC report in 2023 questioned Sainte-Marie's Indigenous heritage, saying it found a birth certificate that indicated she was born in 1941 in Massachusetts.

Family members in the U.S. told CBC that Sainte-Marie was not adopted and doesn't have Indigenous ancestry.

Sainte-Marie's Indigenous culture was a central part of her identity as she rose to fame in the 1960s, and she was won awards including multiple Junos and the Polaris Music Prize in 2015.

Breakthrough as Oxford scientists say they've achieved teleportation

Scientist claim they achieved a massive breakthrough in teleportation by beaming data between quantum computers.

Researchers at the University of Oxford successfully teleported logical gates - the basic components of a computer algorithm - between two quantum processors separated by more than six feet.

Using particles of light (or photons), the scientists were able to form a shared quantum link between the two separate devices. This allowed two processors to work remotely, sharing the same algorithm to complete their computing tasks.

The breakthrough may solve the 'scalability problem' that has plagued the construction of usable quantum computers.

Currently, however, a single computer capable of processing millions of qubits would need to be gigantic in size - making them impossible for most people to have. The new breakthrough changes all that, allowing scientists to move data between a series of smaller devices - instead of building one enormous machine.

Men Face $1,000 Fine if They 'Discharge Semen' Under New Bill

A bill proposed to the Ohio statehouse will make male ejaculation without intent to have a baby a fineable offense of up to $10,000.

The bill has been proposed by State Representatives Anita Somani and Tristan Rader, who wrote it to point out what they see as the absurdity of rules that control women's bodies but do not control men's. It has not been formally introduced to the House Floor yet.

Per Somani and Rader, men would face a $1,000 first offense, $5,000 second offense, and $10,000 subsequent offense fine to "discharge semen or genetic material without intent to fertilize an embryo."

However, some state lawmakers such as Republican state Representative Austin Beigel, are trying to reverse this vote by introducing a bill called the Ohio Prenatal Equal Protection Act. Beigel has called the "Conception Begins at Erection" bill "beyond ridiculous," per News 5 Cleveland.

Somani and Rader say that is the point. They are trying to point out the "ridiculous" double standard when it comes to male and female roles in pregnancy.

They believe that if women are being arrested, and in three cases in Texas, dying, due to restrictive abortion laws, then legislatures should bring up bills to make men legally responsible for their role in conception as well.

It's always been a stupid issue used by both sides of the political divide as a football wedge issue.

It's not like pregnant broads haven't always found a way to terminate an unwanted pregnancy all throughout history.

Both parties are sickening the way they keep it alive. The Democrats should have codified abortion when they had all three levels of elected federal government, but they didn't. They didn't do that for selfish political reasons.
