...I don't know what got inta me.

I just get obsessed and carried away with buying the yellow stuff.

I must have spent close to $10,000 so I've decided to stop for the time being.

and it kind of makes me feel guilty like a kid who's had his hands caught in the cookie jar.

I got too wrapped up in this shit.

It's also made me realize who corrupting money, greed and wealth can be.

Unfortunately our culture teaches us to be greedy, selfish and not giving.

I'd better give something to charity like for sick or needy children to make up for my greed lately.

It's been kinda fun but at the same time perverse buying up these items I always dreamed about owning. Funny thing is, once I've had the opportunity to own/possess them now I kinda feel like getting rid of them.

Oh well, if worse comes to worse I'll just sell it since gold is always saleable, there's always a buyer as it's exchangeable for cash at any time.

I might do that in the future if I get sick of this stuff which I already have.

I doubt your car cost $10,000, josephine.

I doubt his entire net worth is ten grand. But, more importantly, why are we feeding a troll.

Berry Sweet

Me too.  I have a gold chain with a gold clock hanging from it..hurts my back...I might sell it...

That's what vintage $10 gold & sovereign coins look like, Herm:

https://i.ibb.co/xjWZtD8/coin2.jpg">

The $10 pieces are about the size of a half dollar.

They weigh about a half an ounce.

And the sovereign is about the size of a quarter/25 cent coin.

Back then, an ounce of gold was $20. Now it's $2000 US an ounce.

so that proves there has been 100% inflation since then and we have lost 99% of our purchasing power since 1914.

Y'know Herm, back in the last century over 100 years ago, my grandfather made just $10 a week. And he worked for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week 52 weeks of the year for 16 cents an hour. His total salary was about $600 a year - which was actually better than much of the typical Canadian worker who made $350-450 per year.

so it kinda makes me feel bad/guilty that I could buy up instantly,  that was a week's wages for him.  $10. And he busted his butt for that much money.

Back in those days only the rich people like doctors, professionals and wealthy businessmen could ever afford to own them as pocket change, eh?

I'll post other gold coins that I own too if you like, Herm.

Meh, if and when the financial system collapses in a screaming heap, I know something that will be worth a lot more than gold sovereigns. Way more in fact. Way way WAY more.
Her fucking fupa looked like a pair of ass cheeks... like someone naked ran into her head first and got stuck. She was like "come eat me out" and I was like "nah I think I'll go snort some anthrax and light myself on fire instead"

Ask your stomach. I'm sure it knows.

...well then you need land to grow and store the food on right?

In which case city dwelles would be most vulnerable to a cataclysmic event.

Is that a correct interpretation of your statement?

Ballpark, but not quite what I had in mind. But yes, cities will be a liability to survival. Most only survive now because of socialist redistribution of resources, when rural areas stop sending produce to the cities, you will likely starve unless you've made appropriate alternative arrangements.

actually I see your point about Gold.

that it has its limitations.

In emergency situations, it might be liquidated for quick cash or barter for goods.

However, it won't feed, clothe a person nor keep them warm at night when it gets cold outside.

It's not an end all be all investment/hedge & in hard times, even its value can easily plummet and be worth just a fraction of its initial value.

Land which can grow food or build a home on still seems like the best investment.

The land still needs to be worked, its product prepared, processed. Persons skilled in such would be seen as useful, particularly if they enjoyed a reputation locally for being honest and diligent in their work ethic.

It should also be noted that in a breakdown such as the one you keep heralding, an overly authoritarian government may appropriate assets like land. In fact there have already been tells that this is in the wind. "You will own nothing and you will be happy" ring any bells?

Appropriating skill sets is harder, but I can see that coming too.

My latest acquisition, the 1976 22k Montreal Olympics Gold coin....

...doesn't have a high book value, usually purchased for the gold content alone.

1/2 ounce of Gold

But it was hard to resist because these coins are difficult to find in good/decent condition.

Usually, they are improerly handled, beat up, tarnished, scratched got fingerprints all over 'em.

I suspect many are being melt down so there are fewer left all of the time.

It may rise in value some day cuz there are fewer presentable specimans left.
