Buckwheat was from Erick, Oklahoma. They cut four albums for London Records, but nothing popped. They were headed by a superb vocalist, Debbie Campbell. Sadly, she passed in 2004.

This band hails from Austin, Texas. Like so many others, I found this song while rootin' around on the Internet quite a few years ago. These guys are very good musicians and this is a very good song that has held up well over time:

I found an mp3 of this song almost 20 years while rootin' around on the internet. It was by a band called the-low-country. I've never been able to find that mp3 version on ewe toob.

I've since figured out that the-low-country album is called "The Dark Road" and Emily Barker was a member of it. I'm guessing that the song is hers and this recording is of her performing it. This is not a happy song, but it's very good:
