...after syphoning through several government departments staffed by public servants that offer nothing but more bureacracy. Its all very well for governments to "give" the money back, but the cost of the processes is now the major cost of doing government business, and who pays for THEM?

I'm fine with government employees.  I like people having jobs as its good for our economy.



I have a problem with cuts to education while they give us back our money that they then tax.  How is it that they tax tax money.  That makes no sense to me.

Fantastic news my ass.  People seem to forget that the Liberals were bringing in Universal Child Care.  The Cons ditched it for $100/kid/month for "flexible" child care options.  That pays for sweet fuck all plus it was taxable.  Now we're getting more of the same?  As the saying goes, "Bitch please!"

The Conservatives know they have a winner with this one. They are forcing opposition parties to run on their own ideas. All the parties want to maintain the basic framework of universality, with the NDP copying it and then adding their own 15 dollar a day program on top of that. The Liberals propose a form of means testing which is ironic because in the past they were vehemently opposed to that idea.



Along with the family tax cut, increasing the contribution to tax free savings accounts and income splitting, they are fishing for the suburban two kid family votes. Even if they lose the election, the winning party will be in a difficult position with voters if they cancel these populist gems.

I don't care who the next prime minister is, but I hope they don't cancel these helpful programs..



I saw on the news this morning that four million Canadians or is it Canadian families are eligible for the new enhanced child care benefit..

How far has Canada's economic star fallen? Only recently Prime Minister Stephen Harper boasted that Canada's economy was "the envy of the entire world." That claim was always overstated. Now it is downright ludicrous.



The Bank of Canada cut interest rates for the second time this year, but few expect this to pull us out of the tailspin. After all, Canadians are already tapped out: household debt now exceeds 165 per cent of disposable income. And businesses are more reluctant to invest than ever -- despite expensive corporate tax cuts that drain $15 billion per year from the federal treasury.



For years Conservatives have touted their reputation as "good economic managers" to pave their way to power. This reputation is now in tatters, and rightly so. They have squandered so much opportunity, and steered Canada into a preventable, self-inflicted recession. This country needs a dramatic change of direction.

Feds To Run $1B Deficit Based On Bank Of Canada Forecast: PBO



The Bank of Canada's latest economic forecast puts the federal government on track to run a $1-billion deficit in 2015-16, casting doubt on Ottawa's promise to balance the election-year books, says a new analysis by the parliamentary budget office.



In its April budget, the Harper government predicted a string of surpluses, starting with $1.4 billion for this election year. But the budget office projects the government producing a $1-billion shortfall in 2015-16.

Yes, about 11.4% on average and some people will pay zero depending on their income. It's such a bad policy that Mulcair is going to keep it if he's elected. He'll just add another $5 billion dollar $15/day child care program on top of it to be phased in over 8 years.
