Alberta isn't raising taxes..

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says the province is taking action on high energy prices by reducing its tax on gasoline..

He says the price at the pump will drop by 13 cents per litre on April 1 for both gasoline and diesel..

Also starting April 1, the government will deliver a $150 rebate on electricity bills.

At the very least, Justin Triudeau should suspend the scheduled carbon tax increase on April 1.

Scott Moe will table our budget on March 23. Last year he predicted a $2.7 billion dollar deficit. But, high oil prices, and high uranium prices mean the deficit will be a hell of a lot smaller.

The increase in True Dope's carbon cash grab next month means gasoline will cost 3 cents a litre more.

There should be something like the freedom convoy or the yellow vests in France against Justine deliberately driving up the cost of everything in an inflation crisis.

Like a reverse carbon tax. No other province has the cash to do that.

Our provincial NDP opposition will not commit to suspending or lowering the federal carbon tax.

It takes a lot for any government to suspend a tax, even temporarily. When it comes to tax revenues, politicians are like meth addicts — once hooked, they can never get enough.

Take the federal carbon tax, for instance.

When the Liberals brought in their carbon tax, they claimed its purpose was to make gasoline, natural gas and home heating fuel more expensive so Canadians would think twice about their consumption of fossil fuels.

Well, market forces have now raised the price of gasoline so much that many motorists are rethinking travel plans and commuting, and are wincing at the cost of driving their kids to soccer and hockey.

The spike in oil and natural gas prices brought on by the worldwide recovery from the pandemic and disruption of supplies caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine are already achieving the stated policy goal of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "carbon pricing" scheme.

But will that stop the Trudeau government from raising the federal carbon tax by 25 per cent on April 1? Not on your life.

Even though the reasoning behind their tax gouge is being achieved by non-tax means, the feds still plan to raise their levy to 11 cents per litre from 8.8 cents per litre.

It's all about the money it gives them to spend. Their stated policy objectives are just window dressing.

Also, Ottawa charges GST on the provincial fuel tax. Thanks to the Kenney government, the price per litre will fall nearly a further 0.7 cents in reduced GST. The bonus is that the GST drop comes directly out of the federal Liberals' coffers.

Korea is finally rid of President Moon Jae In's inept liberal administration.

South Korean President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol said Thursday he will solidify an alliance with the United States, build a powerful military and sternly cope with North Korean provocations, hours after he won a hard-fought election to become the country's next leader.

Yoon, a conservative whose single five-year term begins in May, said during the campaign that he would make a stronger alliance with the United States the center of his foreign policy. He accused outgoing liberal President Moon Jae-in of tilting toward North Korea and China and away from the U.S. He also stressed a need to recognize the strategic importance of repairing ties with Japan despite a bitter dispute over wartime history.
