As far as I know, I only have the Asperger's.

Quite frankly, I often forget that I even have Asperger's, or what it even is, but apparently other people see it in me, even though I don't see it in myself.

According to Wikipedia...

Asperger's, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical (peculiar or odd) use of language are frequently reported.

Booze -- not anymore.  I can have one beer a day, a few times per week, and it won't kill me.

Food -- not anymore.  I'm spending a lot less on fast food and I'm actually cooking at home.

Exhibitionist -- not anymore.  I haven't masturbated on YouTube in over 4 years.

Lazy -- ok, you got me there :icon_wink:

Did you have issues interacting as a child?

Did you have food issues?

Yep.  In fact, I ended up having to have an assistant in grades 2 through 11; I was put in my own class for the last 2 months of grade 4; I spent most of grade 5 away from the regular classroom; I ate lunch separate from the other kids in grades 6 & 7; I wasn't allowed to take PE in grades 8-12; just before grade 10 I was forced to go on medication, which I stayed on for about 5 years then decided I didn't need, then went off it for 2 years and went on a downward spiral, then went back on it for 5 years, then went off it for a month and entered that toxic relationship with that guy that hit me, and have been back on my meds for 2 years now.

I was actually quite short and skinny from kindergarten to grade 3 because I wasn't eating very much.  Grade 4 I was average height and weight for that age.  Grade 5 I started to get fat because I developed food issues.  I stayed fat for about 7 1/2 years, then lost the weight and kept it off for about 4 1/2 years, and have been fat again for 7 years.

People with your condition sometimes develop fixations or obsessive compulsive behavior. Beyond the food issue; do you have any obsessive behavior patterns such as excessive hand washing or a fixation on a particular number of repetitions when performing simple tasks?

Also many people with Asperger's are very talented or gifted especially with math, music or science. Do you have any special talents or interests?

I'm definitely not an excessive hand washer.  In fact, I'm the opposite of a germaphobe -- I can actually be quite careless when it comes to germs.  My obsessive behavior patterns often include picking my nose, picking my ear wax, plucking my eyelashes, scratching my hands (eczema), and putting my fingers over my mouth so I don't blurt out something I'm not supposed to while I'm in deep thought or while my thoughts are racing.

When I was in elementary school and junior high, I was very good at math and science, and not very good at English.

I started taking my medication just before grade 10, and it helped me be more of a lateral thinker and less of a literal thinker.

As a result, in college, I did really well in English composition and technical English, but I could only get so far in calculus and physics.  That's why I couldn't finish the mechanical engineering technology program I was taking in 2007-2008.

If I have any special talents, one of them is my ability to keep myself occupied with TV clips, music, and other stuff in my head.  That's what has helped me with my career as a sign walker, where I am wearing a sign and waving to traffic for 3 hours at a time.  That's why I'm always watching TV, listening to music, and spending so much time on forums, because I may need to replay that stuff when I have nothing else to keep me occupied.

Interesting.

I was crappy at calculus too and my English and spelling isn't always the best either, so don't feel bad.  ac_biggrin
