I take zopiclone, which is a prescription drug to go to sleep cause I suffer from insomnia...I get tired but I just cant sleep.  I do NOt do drugs and I seldom drink alcohol.

Anyhow...I have a really good doctor ....I was running low and kept fogetting to see my doc for a prescription refill...I got to my last tab and went to a walkin clinic where they hounded me with a million questions as to why I needed this drug...my scedule, my everyday life, my work, my kid..yeesh...wow! He only gave me 10 pills to tide me over till i seen my doc...

So I made an apt with my doc..it got messed up...she went away and I missed the call...but they got me in right away to see another in her office...same shit...the 1 million questions...but since she could my record on the computer file she gave me a months supply...

I have friends who take this drug but not anymore cause their docs are refusing....they told me this a while ago and thought it was odd....but after this, im wondering why docs are cracking down on not giving people zopiclone???  So I hear it can be addicting...but I feel no addiction to it..and I dont take it every night....it doesnt effect my life if I dont take it....

The thing that pisses me off is normal everyday people who work, raise their kids and get stressed...just cant sleep...why not give it to them?? But the odd thing it seems docs have no problem prescribing methadone or opioids < that is addicting and ruining lives....I really dont get it.

Berry, until Mel mentioned it, I had never heard of this medication?

Is the only purpose to make one drowsy?

No side effects?

Berry Sweet

Its for sleep.  It makes one nod off...I been taking it for 2 years...I can go to sleep, but it takes me hours of tossing and turning and I will only sleep for 1-2 hours....this pill isdesigned to help me go back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night...which is constantly.

I worked all day on Teusday and then had dinner with Lo...she spent the night at my parents, so I went home and I crashed...I was in bed and sleeping by 7:30pm....and i knew this wasnt good but I couldnt help it...i woke up at 8:40pm and that was it....my body wont allow me to sleep more....i knew this, so I got up and ate some soup took a zopiclone and went back to sleep.

I have personally experienced no side effects...I have slept walked and that could be from the zopiclone but i have very active dreams...and this has been my whole life.  Mostly when I sleep walk I get up and walk down the hall and back to bed...but most of all I grab my phone and start texting people..random things...and yes I have come on here while i am sleep walking and post....not often but its happened....mel is making (for me) sound like a bigger issue than it is.

Been there, done that.

It is addictive. Like you, I felt no sense of addiction. I just took it at night, as a habit.

But as you've illustrated, when you run out, you tend to panic. You MUST have it.

One doctor told me that the distributor here in Oz told the doctors it is intended to help with TEMPORARY insomnia only...a maximum of 2 weeks.

Be careful with that shite, Berry. Two years is a long time to be taking sedatives, even if they're non-benzo.

I once had to call an ambulance for someone who was having massive withdrawal symptoms a mere three days after he stopped taking Ambien (his doc refused to fill out an emergency scrip for him).

Pot is one thing. So is the blue moon beer. But this is a different ball game.
Aimin\' to misbehave.

I know people that have been on it for a lot longer than that.

Berry, I can answer all of your questions...

A walk-in Doktor may not want to write the script for Zopiclone, since he is unsure of your medical history, or if you are "Doktor Shopping" to stockpile the drug for street sale...

Zopiclone is "somewhat" addictive, but that is negated by the fact that you cannot really take it in the daytime, as you'd be half asleep.  It is a drug that most users should be able to regulate quite well on their own.  You simply don't "pop a couple" on your way to work.  It just doesn't happen.

Resistance builds up in time.  That's why 7.5 mg goes up to 15 mg required in a few weeks.  And that is a fact!  That's why a "drug holiday (isn't what it sounds like)" is recommended, for at least a couple of weeks for the initial dose to work again.

Angry White Male

Find the Doktor that knows you (if he's anti-drug, find another Doktor), don't abuse your script, and you should not have a problem.

One of the reasons that Doktors are careful with this script with some people, is that it's used for suicides.  A full bottle of Zopiclone is much like a full bottle of Benzodiazepines...  When washed down with a quart of Vodka, it may be bye-bye time for you...

And I have experienced this myself.  I am often quite honest when the Doktor's bring this issue up...  I let them know that I have a shotgun at home, and could easily end my life at any point in time, should I prefer to...  I don't NEED a prescription to a certain med, to "ease" my way into the afterlife.

That's generally enough to satisfy them, and their worries of "liability"...

Angry White Male

And I swear to God one Doktor said to me, "You're probably right...  Women tend to kill themselves with booze and pills.  As a male, it's doubtful that you're here to kill yourself with pills, if you have a gun at home."

Common sense, Doc!  A few Docs still have it!
