Didn't her husband work offshore in Brazil. Maybe it was Herman. If it was offshore, I doubt he had much fun on a drilling platform.

There were some, but not that many.
I've learned that if someone asks you a really stupid question and you reply by telling them what time it is, they'll leave you alone

Slaves were forced to fight in a war to remain property of their owners......how horrible.

No, its not quite like that. Its much more to it than that. And that man in the picture that owns the site southernheritage411.com will elaborate a LOT about the black's fighting in that war.

A lot of free blacks fought, and a lot of slaves fought alongside their masters. Simply because not all slaves were treated badly by their masters.

Even Stonewall Jackson, promised his slaves freedom, no matter the outcome of the war. And when the war was over, the majority rode back home with Jackson. Jackson's slaves were some of the best fighters, known as the Green Berets of the war.

If it was over freeing the slaves, then perhaps the Yankee Sherman when he came down here should not of pushed a bunch of slaves with bayonets into the ocean to drown.

Not that I know of. The whole thing was over states rights.

You might not know this, but some slaves, went to masters asking to be slaves. Because they were treated well, and when their servitude was over, and they had bought their freedom, they had the money to start their own lives.

You have to remember, it was Africans, that had no education, and if they had a good master, they had a good life.

Even Stonewall Jackson taught blacks how to read and write at a time it was illegal.

I know some slaves were treated badly. Believe it or not, I hear the "poor treatment" was mostly up North. Also sometimes by black slave masters themselves.

There is soooooooo much to that time period. I do not condone slavery, but in that time period, some seemed to want it, as a way to live. Its not like folks could go down to the local walmart and apply for a job.
