Every damn thread he posts in he's whining that he is being treated unfairly.

If it were up to me I'd exile him to RR until he quits drinking.

I won't have this you arbitrarily banning me in every discussion..

Anyway, back to the discussion, Bricktop asked some good questions that only a police officer could answer.

He may be able to answer them according to the nation, region he was in, the type of officer he was, the type of org he was involved in, and the time frame.

It's such a broad list of questions, many with variables.
Blahhhhhh...

The Police Act varies everywhere, if they even call it that...

Brick may think that all posters are from Oz.  They are not.

Most of the legal questions apply in any jurisdiction, the operational questions less so.

Things like the rules of evidence, prima facie cases, the elements of a crime and search and entry requirements are universal amongst English speaking nations. All of their law is based on the English codification with minor variations.

There are primary principles, such as you are innocent until proven guilty, agents provocateur, a man's home is his castle, he who alleges or accuses must prove beyond a reasonable doubt, the right to silence etcetera.

Every police officer should not only be fully trained on all of these issues, but all of the case law surrounding these issues and the operational impositions such as the requirement to caution a person suspected of a crime, and the many nuances even that simple requirement implies.

The point being that Mel and Dinky's infantile summation of their view of a police officer is absurd, ill informed and somewhat coloured, I suspect, by unfortunate experiences with the judicial system. My guess that Aaron has issues with drug enforcement laws would be right on the money.

Leo, while I respect your opinions, police protocols differ from nation to nation.

He isn't interested in discussing the topic beyond taking jabs at you and I.

When I went through his list originally, I could immediately recognize differences dependent on the nation. While he offers a blanket statement about basic Western laws, he is either incapable or unwilling to concede those differences, some of them major, which exist.

He hasn't made the distinctions between the right to remain silent, lack of, and outcomes, spouses in legal proceedings, discovery, search warrants and what they can use or can't, the legality and dispensement of vehicle searches during traffic stops, just to name a handful of items with differences often not just between nations or regions but by the type of organization granted policing powers whether within their core mission or ancillary in the same overlapping region.

I'd like to have a real and honest discussion about these things and I get the distinct impression he doesn't.
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

A real and honest discussion with you???

Don't make me laugh.

You wouldn't have the first idea how to be "real and honest".

Oh my goodness.

They're common up there. You often see them crossing the road like a mobile speed hump.
