Quote from: "Berry Sweet"What does it taste like?

Like soy sauce sludge.

Bricktop

You're all philistines.

Tis the spread of the angels...the taste of sweet salt and virgin sweat.

Angry White Male

We have a specialty importer store here in town called "Black Pudding."  Just the name makes me cringe...  They'd probably sell yeast spreads.

It's not hard to find here.

Frood

Vegemite on toast really blows my hair back.
Blahhhhhh...

Angry White Male

Why can't you put normal shit on your toast, like peanut butter or strawberry jam?

Bricktop

Vegemite and toast are like man and woman. America and guns. Muslims and goats.

Made for each other.

Angry White Male

Does the typical Australian household even stock peanut butter and jam?  Or would a guest from North America have to bring their own peanut butter or jam with them...

Berry Sweet

Made from leftover brewers' yeast extract with various vegetable and spice additives.

Vegemite is salty, slightly bitter, malty, and rich in umami – a glutamate similar in flavour to beef bouillon.

Yuck...that doesn't sound appealing.  It's like beef toast with tea...bleh

Only people that grew up with it (Brits, Auzzies, etc) will eat it.  Nobody else will...

Berry Sweet

I see it says Australia, British and South Africa.  Some different foods seem weird to me but I've tried a few and they are good...but this sounds like the poor man's topping.  Sorry bro.

I agree Berry.

I think it's more of a 'tradition' than anything else...  Same with Scots eating Haggis.

SICK!  This crap was nothing more than left-over slop that the poor ate, but sometimes 'tradition' is a strange thing...

Frood

It's really nice actually but only if introduced to a newb in the right ways.

Like coffee.
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

You can add it to boiling water for a Bovril type drink.

You probably shouldn't add milk and sugar.
