A follow up on the British Columbia schools white shaming



School administrators in British Columbia are trying to fight racism by posting a series of white-shaming posters on school walls, in an effort to educate students on the evils of "white privilege."

The posters, based on a similar billboard campaign mounted last summer in Saskatoon, bear messages encouraging students to "confront racism" and to not "be blind to the invisible system I am a part of."



Caucasian people, the campaign suggests, even if not racists themselves, still benefit from "white privilege," and thus apparently need to atone for the inherent injustice of race.



"I have unfairly benefited from the colour of my skin," declares Superintendent of Schools Teresa Downs in one poster. "White privilege is not acceptable.



Rather than play down the importance of race in favor of common humanity, Ms. Downs and her comrades-in-arms believe it is critical for students and citizens to become not less but more race-conscious. The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream of "a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character" is apparently not shared by the good folks of School District 74.



Not by the academic authorities, anyway.



School officials reportedly made the mistake of initiating the poster campaign without informing students' parents, which has provoked backlash among families who don't believe it is a sin to be born white.



One parent of mixed-race children, Kansas Field Allen, took issue with the poster crusade and posted photos of the posters on social media, which generated a flurry of comments, mostly critical of the "white privilege" campaign.



Some complained of the "blatant indoctrination" of students, while others expressed their consternation over an unwillingness to focus on common humanity rather than racial divides. "Shouldn't we work on being inclusive rather than exclusive?" a typical comment read.



"I'd say 95 per cent of the people are in favour of having the posters taken down, and that's from all races," Field Allen said.



In January, the posters were hung in every school in the district in January, reportedly with the agreement of school principals.



"We do understand that this is a discussion about race and privilege, and it can make some people uncomfortable," Downs said.[/quote]

AUSTRALIAN nurses are pushing back against a change that requires them to "acknowledge white privilege" before treating patients.



Nurses and midwives around the country must now adhere to a new code of conduct with a section specifically dedicated to "culture" and which details white Australians' inherent privilege "in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders".



The new code, which came into effect in March, has been labelled "eye-watering", "cultural madness" and "unacceptable". A peak body representing nurses in Queensland is even calling for the chairman of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to be sacked over it.



"This is eye-watering stuff," Graeme Haycroft from the Nurses Professional Association of Queensland told Sky News host Peta Credlin.



"We're calling for the resignation of the chairman of the board (Associate Professor Lynette Cusack) because she's put her name to it and it's unacceptable."



Credlin called it "almost too hard to believe". "Before (a midwife) delivers a baby to an indigenous woman she's supposed to put her hands up and say: 'I need to talk to you about my white privilege', not about my infection control, my qualifications or my training as a midwife?" she asked Mr Haycroft.



He said that was correct, but there's no requirement to "announce" anything. The nurses must simply abide by the new code which state clearly that "cultural safety is as important to quality care as clinical safety".



"Cultural safety ... requires nurses and midwives to undertake an ongoing process of self-reflection and cultural self-awareness, and an acknowledgment of how a nurse's/midwife's personal culture impacts on care," the code reads.



"In relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, cultural safety provides a decolonising model of practice based on dialogue, communication, power sharing and negotiation, and the acknowledgment of white privilege.

Just when you think you've seen it all, in comes identity-driven leftists to prove you wrong. Here, we have the latest invention of the race-obsessed left.



I give you "Africentric" math:



A Canadian high school switched to "Africentric Math" to attract black students to go into Science, Technology, Engineering and Math(STEM) fields, according to Canadian Broadcasting's(CBC) Wednesday report.



Teachers are adopting an Afrocentric lens to teach mathematics, based on incorporating African history and culture to make math classes resonate with their students.



Auburn High School is working with the Imphop's Legacy Academy, a program encouraging black students to get interested in STEM, to craft their new curriculum. One example of the new approach is using Egyptian pyramids to explain trigonometry.



"It's academic math, but we want to build their self-confidence, their self-awareness so they can feel that they're capable of doing the math," Auburn Drive High School Principal Karen Hudson said.



So, what they're basically implying is black students are incapable of learning unless it involves the pyramids.



A pyramid is a pyramid whether it's built in ancient Egypt or on the beach by a little blonde-haired honky. The formulas are going to be exactly the same. Replacing "Roman centurions" with "Wakandan warriors" confers no special understanding of the subject matter. Then again, according to leftists, math was invented by white devils to make the black man feel dumb. So maybe some Afro-cizing is in order, after all.



Maybe the kids aren't learning their arithmetic because teachers are too busy worrying about the (insert racial group)centricity of the word problems. If the teachers spent more time teaching math, instead of trivial nonsense like "inclusion," there wouldn't be a comprehension problem in the first place.



Leftists are quick to call conservatives racist. Yet, they're the ones who think brown people need "special" schooling. Go figure.[/quote]
