I can't wait for autumn either, I'll miss the summer rain, but I'm too tired of having to wash my civic every week, lol.

Yes, we do..

To get the salt off that we put on the roads.

Wish they didn't used so much salt every winter  ac_unsure , little spots of rust are starting to surface on the trunk of my Honda civic.

They don't use as much salt in Saskatchewan. Ontario goes overboard with the frickin salt.

I guess it's a matter of whether it's worth salting the roads based on the amount of cars/people that drive on them, I mean Sask isn't as congested as southern Ontario, though I could be wrong.  I heard from my brother the Japanese dumps some sand on the road instead of using salt and chemicals.

I live in Barrie. If a car's undercarriage is not coated. it will rust within one year.

Bricktop

I live in Australia. If I don't wash my car, it stays dusty.

But, dust doesn't rust cars like salt used on roads here in winter does.

There is another reason: salt is cheaper than sand and gravel.

Vancouver gets wet snow, but not all the time in the winter like other places in Canada.

I've been to Vancouver in the winter, but there was no snow on the ground.

What do you use to melt all the snow and ice on Adelaide's roads.

We use a thing called the "Sun".

It's very effective.

Haven't seen any snow or ice on our roads for centuries.

They don't get it.

Keep reminding them.... "think San Diego" then they might get it.

I'm not sure the Australian posters get it.

We get snow sometimes at the lower elevations. But it tends to melt away.

Last night we sipped a delightful Bruichladdich special barley release followed by the smokey ambrosia of a Lagavulin 8 year old, 48% alcohol.
