I lack the discipline to take care of a parrot, but imo it's the perfect companion if you're just interested just keeping only one bird.  ac_cool

Parrots do well with male-female pairs sometimes...

They're high maintenance birds and bond with their primary caregiver to the point of getting pretty jealous and unruly unless extra steps are taken.

Mate of mine snatched a sulphur crested cockatoo when it was a baby when the mate was in his late partying teens.... the bird was a party animal 20 plus years later because of its owner.

Tear through an empty can of grog with its beak to get the last drops type of party animal... then crawl up on the pergola and try to purposely shit in your drink kind of bird.

Then he met his missus (the mate, not the bird), and it was hate at first sight. The bird was deadset on trying to remove her fingers and toes with a vengeance.

Eventually, he gave the bird to his godparents who had a really sweet timid cockie.... a year later I visited them and the problem bird wasn't boozing up or cursing in aussie slang. It just licked my toes under the patio table and asked for scratches...

Lol that's reminds me of the cockatiel I've bought in Hong Kong and ended up giving to my grandma when I had to go back to Canada.  Sometimes he lets me hug him when I'm around, but otherwise he'd try to bite my hand including the maid's hand.  Lol the only person he doesn't attack or show signs of aggression towards to is my grandma, maybe b/c she's really old, slow and show no threat or it's like the bird knows she is the head of the place, even the maid takes cares of the bird, but still he bites her hand all the time when she's within proximity.  ac_umm
