Its a deceptive headline, Fash. Ol' Wazzer is being somewhat liberal with his facts.

Its not my headline, its USA todays and they are left wing media.

Two months straight the murder rate was higher in gun controlled London than in New York City, (and for the year the number is comparably close) how can that be?  Looks like gun control in London doesn't stop people from murdering.

Quote from: "Bricktop"Dude...seriously...

"London tallied 15 murders in February and 22 in March, slightly more than New York City for the same two months, which logged 14 in February and 21 in March, according to murder rate statistics provided to USA TODAY by London's Metropolitan Police and the New York Police Department.

Overall London has so far in 2018 seen fewer killings than New York City: 47 versus 54. Both cities have similarly sized populations of about 9 million.

In London, the homicide rate has increased as the British capital experiences a rise in knife-related crime"

What has this to do with gun control?

a Hypothetical question to illustrate the point--

If a 1000 people die from guns, then you institute gun control-- and now 1000 people die from stabbings instead, have you solved the problem or just relocated it?

Bricktop

So you're comparing guns with knives, based on a TWO MONTH sample between London and New York?

How about London and Detroit? Or Chicago? Or Flint?

More people died in ONE night in Las Vegas than 2 MONTHS in London.

Question. What western democracy has the strictest gun laws and lowest gun ownership?

Answer. Its the same country that has the lowest crime rate in the world.

New York is perhaps  the safest major city in the US. Let's look at Chicago or Detroit.

Lets look at Switzerland a murder rate of .5 nearly same gun availability as the US, but one of the safest countries in the world.

Acapulco Mexico has a murder rate of 106, its one of the highest rates in the world for a city.  Mexico has far stricter gun control laws than the US.

BTW look at a map of chicago and nearly all the murders are in black neighborhoods.

The simplistic view that the only major difference between high crime areas and low crime areas are gun availability is completely false, and easily demonstrated as such.

Fair enough, I got no dog in this fight anyway. It's an internal US thing.

This is simply not true.

Swiss gun licensing is MUCH stricter that the US. You fail to include their constraints on the purchase of ammunition, and the constraints on carrying a firearm. You may OWN a firearm, but carrying it in public is a far different proposition.

Comparing Mexican laws to any functioning nation is risible. Mexico is a failed State by any measure.

However, I fully accept that there are elements of American culture that combine with gun ownership to create a volatile and dangerous society. That only emphasises the need to get rid of the guns. You cannot remove or change a culture.

The Czech Republic has more liberal gun ownership laws than the US does.

Arguing with a mentally ill ex pig about civilian gun ownership is pointless. Once a crazy authoritarian douche, always a crazy authoritarian douche.

You do realise that your infantile outbursts do you more harm than I, don't you?

I'm waaaaay too old to be bothered by the ramblings of a drug addled bucket mouth.

Frood

You're the one who acts like a petulant little child throwing a tantrum whenever someone expresses support for the right of self defence and personal weaponry.

You're also so old that you're nearly wearing nappies again.

(and you obviously have the child like nonsense talk down pat)
