Are golden pheasants game birds?

Bricktop

They are not a protected species as far as I know. Or at least not as a native species. But non native animals can also be under protection in Australia, particularly migratory birds. But this is not one of those.

But I'm not aware if they are hunted as game. They tend to live in remote tropical areas that are hard to access.

We have ringneck pheasants that were imported from Northern Asia..

They are hunted here, and even raised for food.

I don't know what the status of golden pheasants are. I certainly don't think they are raised or hunted. I've never seen a domesticated one, although they are apparently quite easy to tame.

They were initially brought here as pets but many escaped and formed colonies in the wild.

They are probably very different from ringneck pheasants which are game birds and raised for food.

Tis a yellow tailed black cockatoo. Very beautiful bird. We have never seen them here before but a flock moved in a month or so ago.
