Police officers in Illinois are testing a new restraint weapon designed for situations where deadly force is not warranted.

In the gun range at the Buffalo Grove Police Department, officers from several suburban police departments were testing the new technology, known as the "BolaWrap."

Wrap Technologies was showing its hand-held remote restraint device that fires an 8-foot Kevlar tether at a range of up to 25 feet.

That just might work in some situations.

And they HURT, believe me.

Trouble is, in this modern age of drug abuse the pain often takes hours to reach the brain.

Blazor

That thing looks like it would hurt, imagine like a fish hook digging into your leg. Suck even more with shorts on.
I've come here to chew bubble gum, and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

I noticed cops like to use their feet as attitude adjusters when I was young and foolish.

Feet were easier. The batons were a pain in the ass to get out of their "holster".

Wazzzup

Don't know whether it will work or not , but its good to see them trying to use technology to fight crime in ways to cut down shooting

the batons have been done away with here since just after the rodney King beating.  They use bare hands and pepper spray, occasionally a taser.

Chuck Bronson

It looks like it may work if you have both hands straight down to your sides, which most aggressive criminals don't!

Not arguing for or against, but seems it would work best on legs which are usually closer together

I know I set myself up on that one

Legs it might work.  That would give the cops a chance to get close enough for a good, old-fashioned beat down!

Aaaaaaand...never to let a loose one slip by...

I guess it wouldn't work on YOU then???
