I contributed to her campaign (even though I can't vote in her state) and I approve of this ad.

What a cringeworthy ad.

I don't know what he meant, but what I meant was that what goes round, comes round.

I have trouble believing that Canadians are all so humorless. It may help them understand the ad better if they had ever seen the excellent action film The Long Kiss Goodnight from the mid-nineties, starting Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson.

In the film, Davis plays an amnesiac small town teacher who turns out to have been a highly-placed government assassin, prior to losing her memory 8 years previously. The ad invokes a couple of tropes from that film.

We aint humourless. But, that Hollywood shit don't fly here. At least in politics. It has been tried before. But, we have an inept pm who thinks he is a rock star. This is a weird country.

We had a movie actor as president in the eighties, who had co-starred in a couple of movies with a chimpanzee named Bonzo, and he was a popular president although a lot of people blame the erosion of our middle class on his policies. And now we have as president a guy with no political experience who used to have his own reality TV series. One needs a really hearty sense of humor to live in such a reality as ours.

And they are among the best presidents the US has ever had. Trudeau is the worst pm we have ever had. Even worse than his father.

Well, but according to Herman "that Hollywood shit don't fly here", which I took to mean "here in Canada."
