I wonder if Greta will visit any of the reserves that are supporting Eagle Spirit pipelines.

Why is she a nominee for the nobel peace prize..

Her whole demeanor incites conflict.

Is it kinda like when Obama got the peace prize by flaring up race based hate, social class hate, hate in general..
If he had been white, he would have got the blame for arab spring.

The Nobel peace prize is a frickin joke. That lying hypocrite Al Gore won it in 2007 for Christ sakes.

Thankfully Greta did not win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Justin Trudeau is once again writing cheques that cannot be cashed.

The Liberals' 2050 net-zero carbon vow is pure delusion
When leaders and adults willingly give subservience to the frenzy of children, the points of the rational compass are scrambled

an outlandish promise of net-zero emissions by 2050, the achievement of which is either a fantasy or a fraud. It might be thought that a government that has a very spotty record concerning its promises of 2015 — balancing the budget by 2019, end of first-past-the-post, are but two eminent examples — would be wary of any fresh vows, particularly one whose due date is 31 years out.

But on global warming, such is the sponginess of the issue, and the ooze of righteousness that surrounds it, that politicians give themselves all sorts of licence to make promises that not only they have no hope of keeping, but they will be long, long, out of office, or even passed over to the exquisite atmosphere of heaven, or to the more sulphurous ambience of the other place, when the time comes to check their record. The 2050 pledge is pure delusion.

Sadly, many people are comfortable with delusions when it comes to global warming. What else are we to make of the phenomenon of a 16-year-old wandering or sailing the planet, a Joan of Arc of our times, being offered access to the highest deliberative chambers — at the UN, the U.S. Congress, the U.K. Parliament and others — to preach her naïve, testy, panic-laden message?

Why is this 16-year-old of such assumed authority? Were there another 16-year-old available — and I’m sure there are — to preach the opposite, would the world’s legislatures and the world’s press be quite so supine in offering that teenager the same access, the same cringing deference, the same embarrassing applause as Greta Thunberg now harvests? Not a chance. For the present, and for reasons that cannot be fathomed, the young Swede is now the anointed one, and her dour, immature sermonettes a fresh gospel for our times.

Likewise with this strange masquerade of Greta’s climate strike. The term itself makes no sense. Just what is a climate strike? Is everyone to stay indoors and refuse all contact with nature? A strike is a withdrawal of services. Is it polite to ask of this vast theatrical: who is withdrawing what from whom? And how do people, youngsters, who do not work, go on strike in the first place? What’s the name of their union? Who will they picket? We all know that climate strike is just a cute phrase with nonsense at its core, but the world’s media, timid as usual, don’t question its nature or its obvious quality as modern-day propaganda for one side of the climate wars.

Above all, this climate day frenzy is irrationalism sanctified. When leaders and adults willingly give subservience to children, when they willingly surrender leadership to the immature, when teachers become the pupils of their students, a great inversion is upon us. Up is down, East is West, the points of the rational compass are scrambled.

And on top of that we have an election.

The left will utilise ANY means, even recruiting children to their cause, to maintain the divide and sell socialism to the world.

I have seen protesters bring four year old along and get them holding signs. Using kids as political pawns is vile.

The truth is that the so-called climate strike movement is opposed to natural gas too. They’re opposed to zero-emitting nuclear power. They’re opposed to technological solutions that make Canadian oil and gas extraction solutions close to zero emitting. They’re opposed to the entire modern industrial economy,” he said. “Their manifesto essentially calls for shutting down our entire economy. That is not a real solution.”

About the rising water levels..

A thousand years ago, the place I live in was submerged..

The hills were islands..

If that were to happen again, no doubt it will be catastrophic... But it is part of the earths normal cycle..

No biggie... I can move.

There were environmental disasters in the past..

But, the world didn't have seven and a half billion people then.

She is pretty defensive about who is paying for her first class tour of the Americas.

By Jerry Agar of Sun News Media

Who’s funding Greta Thunberg’s world eco-adventure?

Is it cold and cynical to ask who is funding Greta Thunberg’s world eco-adventure?

Of course it isn’t. If someone was out filling meeting rooms and public parks with thousands of people while extolling the virtues of fossil fuel that question would be asked immediately, and for good reason.

As they say, follow the money.

She is a 16-year-old girl. I am a grown man with a job and I can’t afford to pull up stakes and go traipsing around North America on a speaking tour unless someone foots the bill.

Ms. Thunberg has appeared at the UN in New York, in Montreal, just recently in Alberta, and has plans to appear in Chile, all in support of her particularly apocalyptic message of global doom.

She has won several honours and scholarships, but it seems that when there was a cash award she donated it to charity. For example she received the German Goldene Kamera Special Climate Protection award and Thunberg said she would donate the 25,000 euro prize money to organizations she feels are doing good work in the area of climate change.

On Facebook, Thunberg addressed the rumours she knows abound about her.

“Many people love to spread rumors saying that I have people ‘behind me’ or that I’m being ‘paid’ or ‘used’ to do what I’m doing. But there is no one ‘behind’ me except for myself. My parents were as far from climate activists as possible before I made them aware of the situation.”

Are her parents funding the effort? She claims that at first they were against her activism but, “my parents pay for tickets and accommodations.”

She and her family have a book on the market but she claims all profits from that effort also go to charity.

She is quite a fundraiser, it seems, but yet takes no money herself while travelling the world.

She claims independence.

“I am not part of any organization. I sometimes support and cooperate with several NGOS that work with the climate and environment. But I am absolutely independent and I only represent myself. And I do what I do completely for free, I have not received any money or any promise of future payments in any form at all. And nor has anyone linked to me or my family done so.”

Indeed here have been false stories about her and her financial situation. A hoax magazine cover claimed she was the “highest paid activist.” A number of sources have discredited a false image of Thunberg with the American financier George Soros. (That was a particularly clever hoax as he would be a likely suspect.)

Some people feel she is being used as a puppet for shadowy adults. I don’t know. She may be the Doogie Howser of the global crisis set, wise and independent beyond her years. She seems quite intelligent.

Or maybe she is actually the Mother Teresa of the movement, doing the right thing, always and with no compromise, and asking no reward.

But no one gets from New York to Montreal to Edmonton and on to Chile for free. Is it just her parents?

Anyone speaking against any aspect of climate change gets accused of being in the pocket of Big Oil, so if she gets to scold the planet, she needs to be more transparent than a mere Facebook posting.

Just announced today.

For the past 29 years, the Glamour Women of the Year Awards has honored game changers, rule breakers, and trailblazers. This year’s class of extraordinary winners are no exception.

Greta Thunberg is one of the several honorees, and chances are the Cashew Churls won't like any of the other honorees either. ac_dance
