Donald Trump fixes another of Obama's blunders.

The United States has no legal basis to be fighting in Syria.

The president's authority to protect the nation doesn't justify military action against the Syrian government, which poses no threat to America.

Any danger the group poses can be handled by Syria, Turkey, Russia, Israel, Jordan and Iraq.

Staying in Syria carries the risk of a fatal clash between American forces and those of Russia, Turkey or Iran, which could lead to even greater entanglement. There is no compelling reason to court that possibility in a conflict that is irrelevant to our national security.

It was a mistake for the U.S. to venture into Syria, but we've been lucky enough to avoid any catastrophic consequences — unlike, say, in Iraq or Libya. It was a reasonably successful gamble. But a smart gambler knows when to take her winnings and go home.

Obviously it was a grave mistake to pull the troops out of Syria. Everyone, including Repuglicans, are panicking since it caused Mad Dog Mattis to quit. The same day Putin is threatening USA with nukes. They know Trump is a rollover now. Like a man going into prison. If you don't fight back you will always be treated like a bitch. The USA is getting treated like bitches now because Trump is so soft and ignorant.

Correction son, it was a grave mistake for Obama to send troops into Syria in the first place. And graves fo Americans are all you got from the neo-liberal illegal interventionist policies of Obama, Bush and Clinton.

But, you are right  about Obama using Syria to fight a proxy war with Moscow. God what a dumb move getting involved in Syria. Almost as stupid as all the blood Obama caused when he escalated the occupation of Afghanistan.

Is that the same Jim Mattis who ordered the 3:00 a.m. bombing of a suspected enemy safe house near the Syrian border, which later came to be known as the Mukaradeeb wedding party massacre and resulted in the deaths of 42 civilians. The same Jim Mattis who said it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot Afghan men. The same Jim Mattis who has his nose up the ass of the House of Saud.

As head of Central Command, Jim Mattis oversaw the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and was responsible for a region that includes Syria, Iran, and Yemen.According to Leon Panetta, the Obama administration did not place much trust in Mattis because he was perceived as too eager for a military confrontation with Iran. Obama was wrong about a lot of things, but right about that.

And those war hawk Republicans who support Mattis are no better. Remember the war in Iraq.

If Russia doesn't care about being hated in the Muslim world, that is their problem. These wars and occupations in that part of the world by the USA are ISIS recruiters dream.

John McCain is dead and so should the failed ME neo-con policies idiots like him and Mattis championed.

Elitist Progtards couldn't give two shits about Syria. They just oppose Trump.

The New York Times was against the war in Syria before it was for it.

https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/21/new-york-times-editorial-syria/?utm_medium=email">https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/21/new- ... dium=email">https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/21/new-york-times-editorial-syria/?utm_medium=email

Quickly after Secretary of Defense James Mattis announced his resignation (in part as a protest against Trump's decision on Syria) Thursday, America's paper of record quickly produced a scathing editorial, proclaiming "Jim Mattis Was Right."

Who will protect America now?" The Times asked.

The editorial frets about how American troops leaving Syria "hampers morale" of "allied forces like the Kurds."

"It could also risk getting American soldiers killed or wounded for objectives their commanders had already abandoned," writes The Times.

Yet almost a year ago, on Jan. 19, 2018, that same editorial board raked the president over the coals for even daring to continue America's policy of military adventurism.

The Times expressed concern that more American troops beyond the 2,000 initially deployed could soon be sent overseas in a mission without any clear goals.

"Syria is a complex problem. But this plan seems poorly conceived, too dependent on military action and fueled by wishful thinking," The Times said.

You mean the NYT and WaPo are not unbiased journalism.

As a candidate and well before he ran for president, Trump criticized the conflict in Afghanistan and pushed for it to end. He was alo critical of the US presence in Syria.

Ron Paul: Trump's decision to withdraw US troops from Syria is 'fantastic'

Even the anti Trump Wapo praised his decision.

Trump was right to pull out of Syria and Afghanistan.

The problem was not pulling out of Syria, the problem is there was no debate about why Obama sent troops into Syria in the first place.
