Apparently we have the most expensive worst packages on the planet & pay more thsn anyone else.

Frood

I use pre pay. It's 50 AUD every 28 days.

40 GB data, unlimited calls and texts within Australia, and unlimited international to 10 countries, 300 minutes to 22 other countries. They offer a 60gb for 60 AUD but that's way more than I'd use.

Prepaid is very popular in Asia..

Chunghwa Telecom has comparable plans for about thirty dollars Canadian.

Frood

I stopped doing lock in contracts after I got stung with a couple of 4 figure bills.

I pay $40 Canadian for just 6 GB of data & phone text to Canada & the USA wide calling only

By Canadian standards thats considered 'a deal'.

But of course by Australian standards its nothing!

Still...at least its better than mist Canadians who easily rack up $120 phone bills or more per month

The providers are very stingy and cheap in Canada

It's not that common in Canada yet.

It's become more popular here now that prepay nearly meets or in some cases exceeds services of lock in contracts but many people can't afford to buy their phones outright still, so post paid remains to scam people.

Sat phones have really come down in plan prices here too. They even offer prepay on sat phone plans.

I'm getting one later in the year for my vehicle.

Not as much as we pay for rainbow lorikeets and sulphur crested cockatoos.

Frood

You'd hate to see some sections of roads with tens of thousands of dollars worth of roadkill splattered over 50 or 60 metres, then.
