The head scientist died in 1959.
The americans hired them to work for the american government..
They did the same with the Nazi scientists in Operation Paperclip.
It was a good thing ending with much assistance. A good move. The classic example was Wernher von Braun and his V-2 rocket team who put the US far in the lead once they got it all going right.
The Allies and specifically the US were ahead in most areas, but not effective rockets.
There were other good examples in other areas
If one can get good scientists added to their existing batch, it's a good thing

Wernher Von Braun was a light-weight compared to the Unit 731 scientists.
He only had free laborforce to build parts for his projects.
