Phase two clinical trials are currently wrapping up and phase three is expected to begin later this month. It will involve 30,000 people in 11 countries — including Canada — and will ultimately determine if the vaccine protects people from COVID-19. The vaccine requires two doses, 21 days apart, and if approved by Health Canada, could be in the arms of Canadians by the second half of this year.

This is the first I have heard of this candidate. There was one from Saskatchewan, but I cannot remember the name of it.

They will have to use a manufacturing plant in the US



For years, he explained, Medicago had been asking the federal government for funds to assist with pandemic preparedness and to develop a manufacturing plant at home.



"Everybody's saying this is a wonderful idea, it's a made-in-Canada solution and then crickets. Nothing."



It wasn't till Covid hit that the Govt put up the money needed

Health officials have recommended the following restrictions to cabinet, sources told CBC Toronto Monday:



Gathering limits reduced to as few as five people.

Shorter hours for essential businesses, which would involve earlier closures and later openings.

Limits on construction activity, but those limits would still allow essential construction to continue. Essential construction would be defined as work on health care and critical infrastructure, as well as residential buildings.

A requirement that no employees would be allowed in offices unless they are deemed essential.

Those proposals, which have not yet been decided upon, come as Ontario reported another 3,338 cases of COVID-19 and the province's death toll topped 5,000 on Monday.

Alberta reported Monday 639 new cases of COVID-19 and 23 additional deaths.



Paramedics and emergency responders are now eligible to receive the vaccine, Premier Jason Kenney announced Monday. He said the province hopes to administer 50,000 doses per week by the end of January and 200,000 per week by the end of March.
