You have tried that a 1000 times already .. I've been patient (my tongue hurts from biting it) .. but that's one time too many for me

You can't get your vile  CCP master who deliberately gave it to the world  .. and has murdered 700,000 and barely started ... off the hook with that lame crap line

(or prolly twice or more that amount  never reported as such)

And permanently maimed and shortened the lives of many times that amount

A cold? Well listen up. Before telling the World a word China  locked itself (all of Hubei prov and since many other areas  down tighter than we have anywhere .. for what it considered it to be a "cold"??  Really? .. Your CCP didn't think so!!

(while conveniently not saying a peep & at same time  DELIBERATELY sending planes full of infection to infect  the world)

Influenzas, Zika Viruses, West Nile Viruses and other shit happens. By comparison, this coronanvirus is mild.

Watching whites lose their shit over this would be pure comedy if it wasn't for the fact they force their paranoia on everybody else.

Forgive us. This is the first time a hostile power has attacked us using biological weapons.

I understand that even after a vaccine is available, it will take a while to get at least sixty per cent of the population vaccinated..

But, once that happens why can't we go back to doing things like we did before the pandemic.

Physical distancing, mask-wearing could be in place for 2-3 years even with vaccine, Tam warns

COVID-19 vaccine won't be a 'silver bullet,' chief public health officer says

Canadians shouldn't expect a COVID-19 vaccine to be a "silver bullet" that will bring a swift end to the coronavirus pandemic and a return to normal, according to the country's chief public health officer.

Dr. Theresa Tam used her briefing on Tuesday in Ottawa to temper expectations about the speed and effectiveness of a vaccine. She reiterated the importance of physical distancing, proper hand hygiene and mask-wearing, and attempted to dissuade any notion that a vaccine will make life go back to the way it was in a couple of months.

"We can't at this stage just put all of our focus [on a vaccine] in the hopes that this is the silver bullet solution," said Tam.

"We're going to have to manage this pandemic certainly over the next year, but certainly [we are] planning for the longer term of the next two to three years during which the vaccine may play a role but we don't know yet."

Tam said it's unclear at this stage how effective a vaccine will be. She said key questions remain about the degree and duration of immunity a vaccine will provide, the dosage that will be needed and whether it will prevent people from getting infected altogether or simply prevent severe illness requiring hospitalization.

Tam warned that even once a vaccine is tested and deemed to be both safe and effective, there will be challenges with distributing it widely to those who need it.

"It's likely that there won't be enough vaccines for the population," said Tam. "So there'll be prioritization and we're looking at that."

Tam said she agreed with Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top infectious disease specialist in the U.S., who told Congress last week that he was "cautiously optimistic" that a safe and effective vaccine will be available by the end of the year.

Despite that, she said public health officials are planning for a scenario in which measures that have been put in place thus far, including physical distancing to limiting crowd sizes, could be required for at least the next several years.

"[A vaccine] is one important layer of protection," said Tam. "It is a very important solution if we get a safe and effective vaccine, but I would say that the public health measures that we have in place — the sort of personal, daily measures that we take — is going to have to continue."

It sure would be nice if chief medical officers would get on the same page with their messaging on masks. They are creating a most unnecessary divide, not to mention the health risks with so much conflicting information.

More than 1 billion students face 'generational catastrophe' due to COVID-19, UN warns

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says that the novel coronavirus is the largest disrupter of education ever seen, noting that getting students back into schools as safely as possible must be a top priority once local transmission of the virus is under control.

According to the UN, schools were closed in more than 160 countries as of mid-July, affecting more than 1 billion students, while another 40 million children globally have missed out on education in their critical pre-school year.

Closing education is hurting developing countries disproportionately. Many, perhaps most people don't have access to the internet at home, so home study is not an option. Education is the only path to success in the developing world. They must get their schools open again.

This is encouraging even though antibodies are only a temporary treatment.

As the world awaits a COVID-19 vaccine, the next big advance in battling the pandemic could come from a class of biotech therapies widely used against cancer and other disorders — antibodies designed specifically to attack this new virus.

Development of monoclonal antibodies to target the virus has been endorsed by leading scientists. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. infectious diseases expert, called them "almost a sure bet" against COVID-19.

Regeneron is testing a two-antibody cocktail, which it believes limits the ability of the virus' to escape better than one, with data on its efficacy expected by late summer or early fall. "Protection will wane over time. Dosing is something we don't know yet," said Kyratsous.

The U.S. government in June awarded Regeneron a $450 million supply contract. The company said it can immediately begin production at its U.S. plant if regulators approve the treatment.

Unlike vaccines, which activate the body's own immune system, the impact of infused antibodies eventually dissipates.

Still, drugmakers say monoclonal antibodies could temporarily prevent infection in at-risk people such as medical workers and the elderly. They could also be used as a therapeutic bridge until vaccines become widely available.

That certainly would make a good interim solution

It seems we are closer to a vaccine than treatments. Than again, treatments have been politicized.

More good news.

Canada inks deals with Pfizer, Moderna for coronavirus vaccine candidates

The Canadian government has signed new deals with pharmaceutical firms Pfizer and Moderna to secure millions of doses in 2021 of the coronavirus vaccine candidates each company is currently developing.

Procurement Minister Anita Anand made the announcement on Wednesday morning after Pfizer tweeted news of its deal — which is a joint partnership with German biotech firm Biontech — shortly before markets opened earlier that day.

"We are increasingly focused on the next stage of our recovery, including preparing Canada for mass vaccinations," said Anand in a press conference, stressing the need to diversify supply chains.

Pfizer also last month inked a deal with the U.S. government to supply the first 100 million doses of the vaccine it is developing in December.
