People with blood group A more vulnerable to Coronavirus disease says study

People with blood group 'A' may be more prone to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) infection while those with blood type 'O' have a lower risk of contracting the deadly virus, a first-of-its-kind study claimed on Tuesday.

Medical researchers in China took blood group patterns of more than 2,000 patients infected with the virus in Wuhan and Shenzhen and compared them to local healthy populations. They found that blood type A patients showed a higher rate of infection and they tended to develop more severe symptoms.

Of 206 patients, 85 had type A blood – 63 per cent more than the infected 52 who had type O.

"People of blood group A might need particularly strengthened personal protection to reduce the chance of infection," the authors wrote, adding that Sars-CoV-2-infected patients with blood group A might need to receive more vigilant surveillance and aggressive treatment.

"Blood group O had a significantly lower risk for the infectious disease compared with non-O blood groups", said the study that is yet to be peer reviewed.

https://www.foxnews.com/health/presymptomatic-coronavirus-patients-can-spread-illness-cdc-report">Presymptomatic coronavirus patients can spread illness for 1-3 days before showing signs, CDC report says

A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found that those infected with the novel coronavirus can spread it for one to three days before showing signs of the illness — such as a fever, cough or shortness of breath — hence making them "presymptomatic" spreaders. The findings further emphasize how infectious COVID-19 is and why containment measures may be difficult.

The CDC in its Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) looked at some 243 cases of COVID-19 in Singapore from Jan. 23 through March 16. Specifically, researchers "identified seven clusters of cases in which presymptomatic transmission is the most likely explanation for the occurrence of secondary cases."

Common hydroxychloroquine side effects may include:

headache, dizziness, ringing in your ears;

nausea, vomiting, stomach pain;

loss of appetite, weight loss;

mood changes, feeling nervous or irritable;

skin rash or itching; or

hair loss.

Seems like a reasonable risk to prevent getting the virus.

All drugs I've seen  have a list longer than that. They have to list a problem if a VERY few people even thinks it did that to them

Usually the chance of having a given problem is close to zero

From all I've heard it's one of the most real world trouble free I've seen

I have only had one that I found had a possible problem that actually occurred for me - bad dreams

I think this one is a good dream

Was it a one time dosage?

India Bans All Exports of Trump's 'Game Changer' Virus Drug

QuoteIndia banned all exports of hydroxychloroquine, a malaria drug that President Donald Trump has repeatedly touted as a "game changer" in the fight against Covid-19.

Exports of the drug and its formulations are prohibited "without any exceptions" and with immediate effect, India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in an April 4 order on its website. The trade regulator had last month restricted overseas shipments of the drug, allowing only limited exceptions such as on humanitarian grounds and for meeting prior commitments.

Trump also said that the federal government was stockpiling millions of doses of the drug to make it available for coronavirus patients.

I am not convinced hydroxychloroquine is a treatment game changer.

Canada takes cautious approach to unapproved COVID-19 drugs, as others prescribe wide use

But in contrast to the FDA, health organizations here have discouraged their use except as part of those clinical trials — studies designed to carefully assess the drugs' effectiveness and possible harmful side effects.

And some experts warn that widespread use outside of studies — which typically include a control group of patients who don't receive the drug — could make it difficult to ever determine whether they work or not.

Health Canada alone has approved eight separate COVID-19 trials.

The malaria drug has drawn the most attention worldwide, initially because of a small French study that seemed to show that combining it with the antibiotic azithromycin had some effectiveness against the coronavirus.

The entire West Coast could be on the downside of the curve. California is even lending out ventilators.

No. I was referring to another drug completely and for a different reason

Sorry to confuse ... was trying to say that any listed possible side effects are usually very rare .. just "possible"

Aside, despite Nat. Post, there have been many small trials .. all good .. I found the article typically Canadian .. snobby and snotty for the usual reason

I wish we would stop dragging our feet on hydroxychloroquine. People are suffering.

I know - heard many interviews today - one especially stood out - a Democrat state senator was almost dead when she took it .. despite her governor issuing a ban that day (A Demoncrat governor, you guessed right)  ... She has contacted T @ Co. to get their asses in gear

Sadly politics is at work here .. that Nat Post article stunk of it .. Sorry Thiel, but it did from start to finish. Politics and TDS and typical Canadian low gear & low revs

It's not funny. Politics and TDS is killing people in several ways .. and even in Canada

Over time I have tracked down a dozen or so Docs who have used it, some on a great many people .. some with zink, some without .. a cpl with an AIDS drug added

Not trying it is murder ... politically driven, hate driven, despicable  murder

Detroit rep says hydroxychloroquine, Trump helped save her life amid COVID-19 fight

LANSING – A Democratic state representative from Detroit is crediting hydroxychloroquine — and Republican President Donald Trump who touted the drug — for saving her in her battle with the coronavirus.

State Rep. Karen Whitsett, who learned Monday she has tested positive for COVID-19, said she started taking hydroxychloroquine on March 31, prescribed by her doctor, after both she and her husband sought treatment for a range of symptoms on March 18.

"It was less than two hours" before she started to feel relief, said Whitsett, who had experienced shortness of breath, swollen lymph nodes, and what felt like a sinus infection. She is still experiencing headaches, she said.

Asked whether she thinks Trump may have saved her life, Whitsett said: "Yes, I do," and "I do thank him for that."

Plaquenil, taken in tandem with anti-bacterial drug, azithromycin has shown success in treating symptoms. When I do a search, all the TDS sites talk down the treatments. Canada is playing games with it too.

None of the above want T to look good ... even if 1,000s die necessarily

That's easy to verify by reading or watching TDS  sites and networks
