For the first time since November 24, Manitoba had less than 300 people in hospital with the coronavirus. We had 293 new cases and 13 deaths.

Britain, just one week after ending a four week lock down is back to 21,000 new infections..

Germany had nearly 29,000 cases..

Europe and North America can no longer count on lock downs to contain the spread.

cc

I have Germany at 20,994 ... but that's moot. It has again climbed back up from a temporary dip a week ago.

With the way it is everywhere, there seems no way to stop this beast

Of the 5 European places I track, after all eased off a bit last 2 weeks, all but Italy is up this week & with Italy 1 in every 22 people has already contracted it initially or lately

US is over 200,000 just about every day now for past 10 days .. Canada up to 13,100  today

NETHERLANDS, AUSTRIA, SWITZERLAND and others, all with very small populations are very high numbers now

On Worldometer yesterday....it has the UK at 20,964, and Germany at 28,179..

It shows Canada with 6,739 new cases and 13,109 total deaths.

You are correct - actually it changes about 6 pm our time & calls today yesterday which can get confusing

Bottom line, it is out of control most everywhere

That is why it's ridiclulous for our NDP opposition to compare Australia with Alberta. Morrison shut down borders pronto and let nobody in from hotspots. We chose not to do that. Even Trump, waited too long to ban flights from Europe.

Europe and North America are heavily populated and this will continue to spread like a praire wild fire until most of us are vaccinated. Lockdown or no lockdown, we will have the rona with us until summer at least.

We would still have high humber of daily infections if Rachel Notley was still premier..

Our numbers started going up after Thanksgiving and neither party wanted another lock down at that time.

Sasquatch, I assumed that every new daily infection was a first time test. If the daily stats include people who have already tested positive and are awaiting a negative result to be declared recovered, than that province's daily stats are meaningless.

Good find by the way.

I didn't find it myself, but being circulated among some groups I'm in as of today, but yeah....this news really pisses me off just like Jason's flipflop because he couldn't handle the political pressure from the phony numbers AHS was peddling.

I hope heads will roll for this like they have in the past.

I didn't get to read it all. This of course affected the "testing" rate, but did it affect the listed "# of daily new cases" reported & thus also the total cases?

If it did, it would mean the exceptionally low Alberta  death per case rate was also bogus as it has nothing to do with death numbers

We are 6 weeks into a cod red and we had 447 cases and 14 deaths today. If we had BC's population, that would translate to about 1700 cases and fifty deaths.

We can lock down small businesses, throw people out of work, but we can't stop private social gatherings, no matter how much we try to legislate it. This is where the spread is.
