"There is increasing confidence that COVID-19 likely originated in a Wuhan laboratory," Fox News' Bret Baier reported on Wednesday evening. The news reinvigorates early theories that the coronavirus pandemic began in a Wuhan lab.

Sources told Fox News that evidence points to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, based on "classified and open-source documents and evidence."

The virus was not grown as a bioweapon but as part of an effort by China to show that it was just as capable as the U.S. in combating viruses, multiple sources told Fox News.

The Daily Mail similarly reported that "The Wuhan lab was originally set up with assistance from the French and American governments, but in recent years the Chinese have rebuffed international assistance there and tried to prove their ability to work independently."

Safety procedures were sloppy at the lab. U.S. Embassy officials warned in January 2018 about poor safety protocols, noting in particular risky studies linked with coronavirus pathogens in bats, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

The Fox report noted that the sources stressed that the intelligence isn't definite. "Some inside the administration and the intelligence and epidemiological communities are more skeptical, and the investigation is continuing," the report said.

It came from a lab in Wuhan.

I knew it didn't come from eating bats or that wet market in Wuhan.

If it isn't DEFINITE, then they shouldn't write about it.

Yup. Daily more info is unearthed in that direction ... in fact the pace has caused new revelations almost hourly

It is definite that  it came from China and that China deliberately held back data during early stages   ... stopped all planes from Hubei Province into China to protect China  .. yet sent planeloads to infect US, Canada & Europe

Of course all aspects of the entire thing are highly suspect ... China fucked the world ... dig dig dig like hell

That is what America's congressional hearings will determine. The American media left wing media didn't mind posting about the Russia collusion hoax that wasn't even plausible let alone likely. The Chinese have lied about everything. I want to know exactly where the coroanvirus came from. Bats and wet markets is a weak story.

Not only did it come from the lab, but at least keeping it secret was deliberate

One has the right .. no, the obligation to suspect the very worse .. and dig dig dig

The bat soup story came from a fake internet video.

This is where I agree with the majority here. COVID-19 didn't come from bats sold at that market.

I believe it was made in a lab.  A lot of propaganda out there to spread hate and racism, people easily fall for it.  Don't hate the Chinese, hate their government.

Well there is another story about bats in Australia giving a horse a disease that killed the vet who attended the sick horse. It's called Hendra Virus from Fruit bats... https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/young-vet-killed-by-hendra-virus-20080822-gea9wo.html">https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/nation ... ea9wo.html">https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/young-vet-killed-by-hendra-virus-20080822-gea9wo.html

Bird flu is given to humans from birds as does swine flu. Wild animals give their sicknesses to your domestic farm animals.

The lab story is really the science fiction part actually and easy for people to swallow because movies about that subject are made.

Unless people have 100% proof all this does is actually spread misinformation.

If eating bats actually happens in rare corners of China, they were not in that Wuhan market.

Eating bats is common in Asia... Indonesians eat them. I don't know an Asian country that doesn't eat bats.

Here is video from January 24 2020

From a Hong Kong news source.

According to Hong Kong based publication, South China Morning Post, koalas, peacocks, Chinese giant salamanders, wolf pups and rats are among the many animals sold at the Wuhan wholesale seafood market linked to the outbreak.

The 'explainer' video posted by SCMP:

The story going around about the Lab in Wuhan next to the wet market is also circulating our national ABC.

And my argument is, unless they actually have real proof, innuendo and the like, should not be spread around.

The virus is like (genetically familiar) another disease associated with bats... (In that group of viruses). That was from the very early reports though.

And like I said initially, unless the Chinese, who I am sure know EXACTLY where it came from, unless they cough up info, we'll never know for sure.

It's not the EATING of bats or any wildlife for that matter, it's THE HANDLING Of ANIMALS and not being clean between the handling of the wild produce.

And also if you under-cook, you could catch something from that too...

Koreans do not eat bats. Japanese do not eat bats. Taiwanese do not eat bats. I'm less sure about some exotic delicacies in SE Asia, but I can assure you that eating bats, if it does exist, is extremely rare.

They're not named in Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_as_food">https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_as_food

Asia

Humans hunt 64 species of bats in Asia, though the intensity of hunting varies by region.[14] In Southeast Asia, bats are widely hunted in ten of the eleven countries, excluding only Singapore.[14] About 17% of bat species are hunted in Southeast Asia, or 56 species.[14] Indonesia and the Philippines have especially high levels of hunting, with a third of bat species in the Philippines subject to hunting despite legal protections such as the Philippine Wildlife Act and Philippine Cave Management Act, which are poorly enforced.[14] In some Malaysian cities, bats are seen as a luxury meat.[2] Back in 2001, it was reported that 7% of households in Thailand's Phu Kheio Wildlife Sanctuary ate bat meat.[2]

In South Asia, hunting bats for food occurs in Bangladesh by tribal groups, specifically targeting larger bat species. While bats are killed in India and Pakistan, consumption is reported to be infrequent, and perceived medicinal uses are more common motives.[14] A few studies though state that bat meat consumption is more common in certain parts of India such as the Northeast,[16] the Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam Districts in Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.[2]

In East Asia, specifically southern China, bats are sometimes eaten and can be found in some markets.[4] Specific bat species eaten in China include the cave nectar bat, Pomona roundleaf bat, Indian flying fox, and Leschenault's rousette.[14] Additionally, the greater short-nosed fruit bat is hunted for medicine, but not food.[14] Bat meat is not especially popular in China.[17][18][19] It has been contested whether or not the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, suspected as having ties with the COVID-19 outbreak, sold bat meat.[20][21] According to some sources bat meat was never sold in the market,[22][23][24] and it has been reported that the bats are not a common food source in the city of Wuhan.[25][26][27] Some media outlets, including Daily Mail and RT, promoted a video that showed a young Chinese woman eating a bat and suggested it was shot in Wuhan, but later it was confirmed that the footage was filmed by travel vlogger Wang Mengyun in the island country of Palau in 2016, to showcase local cuisine.[18][28]

International agencies pressured China to adopt legislation forbidding the hunting of bats and sale of bat meat following the early 2000s SARS outbreak where hundreds of people died, though no such legislation was passed.[4] All wildlife trade in China, including bat meat, was banned in January 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic which originated in Wuhan.[29][30][31]

Everyone by now should have converted to eating farm animals. Farm animals are supposedly strictly controlled. They are dipped for parasite removal.
