I agree, it's time to end the total lockdown in Alberta..

Their suggestions are very reasonable.

Around 200 attendees raised signs and chanted "End the lockdown," despite provincial rules carrying fines between $1,000 and $100,000 for gatherings of 15 or more. Michael Banner, a spokesperson for End the Lockdown Alberta, which organized the rally, said the province has done a good job of slowing the spread of the coronavirus, but called for a return to earlier rules that limited gatherings to 50 people and let restaurants operate at 50 per cent capacity, and allowed schools to remain open.

Could we have done things differently? Of course, this is our first pandemic.

Vancouver

15 people? 50 people? Alberta is helpless if people gather together like this. 200 people protest. Do people think the virus is a hoax?

Do people think the death, illness, family breakdowns caused by lockdowns is a hoax. Total lockdowns are worse than the disease itself. We will see the true cost in human suffering that has been needlessly caused by lockdowns when we have treatments or a vaccine.

If I hear about one of these anti lockdown demonstrations in Vancouver, I will join it.

TVG, you don't deny that lockdowns are the cause of many problems at least as bad as the virus itself?

I used to believe that lockdowns were an effective strategy, but they've gone on too long and they causing too much physical and financial damage that we may never recover from.

Since China began to ease up in February, its factories have become busier and its streets are no longer empty. But it is missing large chunks of everyday activity. Rides on the metro and on domestic flights are down by a third. Spending on such things as restaurants has fallen by 40%. Across the post-lockdown rich world, life will be tough—at least until a vaccine or a treatment is found. People are weighed down by financial hardship, businesses are short of money and the unemployed could face a lost decade. The longer the world has to endure the 90% economy, the less likely it is to snap back after the pandemic. The popular demand for change could radicalise politics faster than it did after the financial crisis in 2007-09.

Ok maybe we should open things back up with restrictions but Alberta still allowing up to 15 people to gather together is crazy. The nutjobs want gatherings up to 50? Over here bylaw officers will have a word with you standing within 2 meters with just 1 friend. Alberta seem to have much more cases than us.

Those end the lockdown protests are not about mass gatherings. Most provinces it's either 10 or 15. Alberta is 15 and that aint changing after their relaunch and we allow 10 and that aint changing after our relaunch.

That aint what folks are legitimately pissed off about. Forced unemployment, cancelled surgeries, poverty, and death are the byproducts of these lockdowns. Let people go back to work, but do maintain effective control measures. I am semi retired, I live on a farm and I have the financial means to isolate for a few years. My son and his pregnant girlfriend cannot do that.

The partial reopening measures provinces are rolling out are what should have happened in the first place, not economic strangulation.

Lockdowns will go down in history as the final stupid mistake that pushed the West to Argentina status.

I can survive these long lockdowns, but most of the country cannot.

shutdowns a "massive overreaction" when most people "face almost no risk."

"We know that this is targeted at a vulnerable, tragically vulnerable set of populations which is elderly 75 and older, people in nursing homes and those with pre-existing conditions," said Mac Donald. "Everybody else, it's really not much worse than the flu."

Brit Hume on why the case for a national state of emergency is getting weaker and weaker.

https://dailycaller.com/2020/04/28/fox-news-brit-hume-social-distancing-coronavirus/">https://dailycaller.com/2020/04/28/fox- ... ronavirus/">https://dailycaller.com/2020/04/28/fox-news-brit-hume-social-distancing-coronavirus/

"Two things," said Hume. "First the collateral damage from it is extraordinary."

Hume explained that the initial reasons for the full lockdown was to "protect our medical system from being overwhelmed." Except, he said, "hospitals are failing across the country."

"The damage to our medical, our health care system it seems to me is something we really have to take into account here," said the Fox News correspondent. "It's very serious."

Hume cited the "economic damage" and "budgetary harm" as other examples: "We are saddling our country and future generations with debt on a scale that was already high and now it is far, far worse. Not to mention the toll on businesses with which won't reopen and so on. The unemployment. The consequences for children being locked up at home and not being able to go to school with their friends and be outside, the mental health issues that arise from that, the domestic domestic violence ... That's part of it, the damage from it."

The Fox News correspondent's second reason centered around the fact that coronavirus "overwhelmingly affects elderly people and those with serious underlying medical conditions."

"Everyone else is much less vulnerable, down to children who seem almost totally invulnerable to catching this disease," he said, contending that it "can be addressed" by having the vulnerable quarantined.
