Windows 7 is best Windows!  When Microsoft can finally come up with something that's not junk, and is made for an actual desktop PC, I'll get modern...

Pfft, Im still on XP

XP was decent for it's time, but it's old enough now to encounter some compatibility issues...  You can still run pretty much everything on Windows 7 though!

XP in it's day was great. 7 similar

Any of them are good even now so long as .. 1.  you have no heavy duty and / or modern apps to run ... nor 2. have no  personal or business data on board that needs security

1 in 5 Microsoft users are still running 7, so that works out to about 200,000,000 people that find it works just fine, like me!  I'll upgrade when they fix their current spyware-laden O/S that's designed for a touchscreen...

If you have none of the above, 7  is almost as smooth as 10  .. so long as you don't use it too much  or with too heavy duty apps (for garbage to build up)

It is!  And it's still going to be supported for another three years, but only for 'business' clients that pay a fee.  Unfortunately it isn't that easy for me to access the extended support...

My PC build will easily run heavy duty or modern apps, since I built it with performance in mind.  Security could be an issue now that support has ended (except for businesses), but to be honest security has more to do with the user than with the O/S...  Run a proper firewall, etc.
