Have we reached the ultimate stage of absurdity where some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born,

while other people are not held responsible for what they themselves are doing today?

Only change I'd suggest is revering the 1st 2 words -> "We have reached"

Bravo Thomas Sowell.

Police Chief of the area taken

Addressing the takeover of the area surrounding the Seattle Police Department's abandoned East Precinct building, Chief Carmen Best said in a video addressed to her officers Thursday major chaos had been averted but also that she was "angry about" how the situation unfolded.

After days of protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody, Seattle police boarded up and left the East Precinct building Monday night – and then a crowd of protesters set up barricades in the surrounding area, declaring it an "autonomous" and "cop-free zone."

She also said, using air quotes, that police had heard reports of armed people "patrolling" the area, which she said was "very concerning."

"Especially because we don't know who these people are," she added.

And she hinted that they may even be extorting local business owners and demanding local residents show identification.

"This is not legal," she said. "And we ask anyone who may be experiencing this to come forward and file a police report."

In closing, she said that she believed most city residents supported the police force – despite left-wing calls to defund departments around the country — "even though they may not be the ones posting on social media."

So in this case cops took no role - I would  expect it was the mayor who ordered abandoning the station

Yet, with the stuff pushed by schools and colleges, news etc for past few years I guess we should have seen that it could get this bad

A cop abuses his power and let anarchists take over cities.

cc

it had nothing to do with the cop of course, but you know that ... that was just an excuse ... millions were primed and ready .. a few started and millions more who were also primed  jumped on the bandwagon

I guess even I am surprised with mayors and councils .. I knew big city politicos were off the rails, but thought they would support  law and order at least .. . so many did not

I don't know where we go from here, but based on past 2 weeks, it prolly will not be to a good place

No generation has been brought up and educated so poorly and misguided so dangerously .. add profs and teachers and media and Demoncrats all beating the same drums for years  .... and crazy happened

King County Metro says its buses will no longer deliver law enforcement officers to protests

King County Metro Transit says its buses will no longer deliver law enforcement officers to political protests and demonstration sites.

The decision, announced Thursday by General Manager Rob Gannon, responds to public reaction, since the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police.

Oh, I get it now - It's all a "Make Work" plan

More businesses fearing property damage hire private security guards in wake of protests

Private security contractor Denise Bamba remembers the point last week when she couldn't get off the telephone.

It was the Monday after weekend protests occurred in downtown Seattle over the Minneapolis police killing of George Floyd. Fortress Security Services, co-owned by Bamba and her husband, Deschamps, was besieged by local businesses seeking armed guards to protect their property.

"My phone shows I logged more than 200 calls that day,'' said Denise Bamba, adding the couple turned down numerous requests because the company didn't have enough guards.

Other security companies also reported an uptick in protection requests from businesses of all sizes and residential complexes downtown, in Capitol Hill, Pioneer Square and even Redmond, West Seattle and Tukwila. Fueling the surge, they say, are fears police consumed with controlling protests won't prioritize property protection.
