Several years ago, Project Baltimore began an investigation of Baltimore's school system. What they found was an utter disgrace. In 19 of Baltimore's 39 high schools, out of 3,804 students, only 14 of them, or less than 1%, were proficient in math. In 13 of Baltimore's high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math. In five Baltimore City high schools, not a single student scored proficient in math or reading. Despite these academic deficiencies, about 70% of the students graduate and are conferred a high school diploma — a fraudulent high school diploma.

The Detroit Public Schools Community District scored the lowest in the nation compared to 26 other urban districts for reading and mathematics at the fourth- and eighth-grade levels. A recent video captures some of this miseducation in Milwaukee high schools: In two city high schools, only one student tested proficient in math and none are proficient in English. Yet, the schools spent a full week learning about "systemic racism" and "Black Lives Matter activism." By the way, a Nov. 19, 2020, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article asks: "How many Black teachers did you have? I've only had two." The article concludes, "For future Black students, that number needs to go up." New York City is one of many school systems in the United States set to roll out Black Lives Matter-themed lesson plans. According to the NYC Department of Education, teachers will delve into "systemic racism," police brutality and white privilege in their classrooms.

Should we blame this education tragedy on racial discrimination or claim that it is a legacy of slavery? Dr. Thomas Sowell's research in "Education: Assumptions Versus History" documents academic excellence at Baltimore's Frederick Douglass High School and others. This academic excellence occurred during the late 1800s to mid-1900s, an era when blacks were much poorer than today and faced gross racial discrimination. Frederick Douglass High School of yesteryear produced many distinguished alumni, such as Thurgood Marshall and Cab Calloway, and several judges, congressmen and civil rights leaders. Frederick Douglass High School was second in the nation in black Ph.Ds. among its alumni.

Also, in Sowell's "Education: Assumptions Versus History" is the story of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, a black public school in Washington, D.C. As early as 1899, its students scored higher on citywide tests than any of the city's white schools. From its founding in 1870 to 1955, most of its graduates went off to college. Dunbar's distinguished alumni include U.S. Sen. Edward Brooke, physician Charles Drew and, during World War II, nearly a score of majors, nine colonels and lieutenant colonels, and a brigadier general. Today's Paul Laurence Dunbar and Frederick Douglass high schools have material resources that would have been unimaginable to their predecessors. However, having those resources have meant absolutely nothing in terms of academic achievement.

If we accept the notion that rotten education is not preordained, then I wonder when the black community will demand an end to an educational environment that condemns so many youngsters to mediocrity. You can bet the rent money that white liberals and high-income blacks would not begin to accept the kind of education for their children that most blacks receive.

The school climate, seldom discussed, plays a very important role in education. During the 2017-18 school year, there were an estimated 962,300 violent incidents and 476,100 nonviolent incidents in U.S. public schools nationwide. Schools with 1,000 or more students had at least one sworn law enforcement officer. About 90% of those law enforcement officers carry firearms. Aside from violence, there are many instances of outright disrespect for teachers. First- and second-graders telling teachers to "Shut the f—- up" and calling teachers "b——h."

Years ago, much of the behavior of young people that we see today would have never been tolerated. There was the vice principal's office where corporal punishment would be administered for gross infractions. If the kid was unwise enough to tell his parents what happened, he might get more punishment at home. Today, unfortunately, we have replaced practices that worked with practices that sound good and caring. And we are witnessing the results.

Prog cities, prog priorities

Gotta keep em down on the plantation  .. keep em stupid & voting like they should

Been that way for decades  .. sadly

I love & respect Thomas Sowell .. but so far it can't even be called an "uphill battle" ..  he and those few like him are not listened to by those who could make things better .. in fact, they hate his ideas
I really tried to warn y\'all in 49  .. G. Orwell

Poor results are not new in American public schools..

Substituting extremist dogma for mathematics might be though.

Along those same lines of failed progressive ideas.

Progressives Are Regressing New York

New York billionaire and CEO of Gristedes Foods, John Catsimatidis, criticized the progressive policies adopted by New York State and New York City.

"Let's tell the truth. Progressives are not progressing our city. They are taking it backwards. They're taking it backwards to the days when we were worried about the radios in our cars because somebody's gonna break into them," Catsimatidis told Jan Jekielek, the host of The Epoch Times' American Thoughts Leaders program.

Catsimatidis rebuked progressive officials for using the words "black lives matter" but not really caring about the African-American community.

"The people don't want to return to New York because they feel unsafe walking around the streets," said Catsimatidis.

Catsimatidis said he has put some big construction projects on hold, waiting to see who's running the state and city after September 2021 because the governor and the mayor don't share his ideas about how to run the state and the city.

"They don't realize that capital has the ability to go elsewhere," said Catsimatidis.

"I love New York, but it cannot be run by people that are not pro-America, pro-New York City, and pro-capitalism," said Catsimatidis said.

The mayor and the city council of New York City have been pushing to repurpose the largest prison in the city at Rikers Island and the project has been widely rejected by communities over safety concerns.

When asked about the truths about New York that aren't getting out, Catsimatidis said "the truth is putting all the criminals on the streets in New York and handcuffing the police department instead of the criminals."

Yep, prog money and power is keeping blacks in poverty, just like they are trying to  annihilate North America's prosperous blue collar working class. But, obsessed, brainwashed incels like Scouse are fcused on the really important stuff, like a Hindu family moving into the council estates.

It started in the 1960s when that democrap scumbag LBJ took credit for passing the Republican sponsored Civil Rights Act of 1964.

After a 14 hour filibuster by democrap senator KKK Robert Byrd that failed, Johnson signed the Act and is reported by presidential historians to have said:..

"That'll keep these niggers voting democratic for the next 200 years"

Then he signed the expansion of the welfare act which created the massive levels of government dependency we see in the black community today.....Now you have generations of blacks who kiss the feet of democrats all over the country. Before the 1960s a large segment of the black community in the US voted Republican.

"These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us"

Lyndon Johnson..Democrap

It's unfortunate, because African-Americans are being taken for granted by one political party in the USA..

The insulting comments by Joe Biden that one isn't black if they don't vote for him highlighted that.

It started in the 1960s when that democrap scumbag LBJ took credit for passing the Republican sponsored Civil Rights Act of 1964.

After a 14 hour filibuster by democrap senator KKK Robert Byrd that failed, John's signed the Act and is reported by presidential historians to have said:..

"That'll keep these niggers voting democratic for the next 200 years"

Then when he signed the expansion of the Welfare Act.

Liberal Racist Scumbag Esq.

I had read some of this....how unfortunate for African-Americans.

Unfortunate yes but you can't fix stupid either. It's not very hard to see that blacks are being played by democrats. It's the same with many seniors...For decades democraps especially those like Joey Hair Plugs have been scaring seniors by saying, "look out, vote for ME because Republicans are going to take away your social security and Medicare", which is all bullshit.

Democraps are the party of big government and the micro management of peoples lives...They do it by instilling fear in the demographics that they prey upon for votes and white elitist liberals cheer it on like the flock of screeching vultures that they are....Despite liberals always attempting to claim the intellectual high ground, the demographics that traditionally vote democratic are usually dumber than dirt.

For the nine and a half years Stephen Harper was pm, the Liberals and NDP always tried to instill fear in people by claiming Harper had a "hidden agenda" to privatize health care, and gas gays.

The fear that conservatives will "gas gays" is one of those idiotic rallying cries the scummy left loves to use....By and large LBGTQLMNOP alphabet soup clowns hate Trump because they have it in their fucked up little heads that Trump wants them all dead. I mean like what the actual fuck???....This despite the fact that Trump had openly gay people in his admin and fostered an initiative to globally end laws in other countries that made it illegal to be gay....It may have been an overly ambitious idea that really went no where...But what other world leader has ever even thought of something like that???

Just look at the support Killary got from the gays in 2016 and continues to get....What the fuck has that predatory hag ever done for the gay community?...The logic behind supporting her must be off the rails.

As every thinking person knows...You can't fix stupid...Stupid is genetic amongst the panicky, emotionally driven, sheep that infest the left of both our countries.
