It's just that I thought the current debate centered on the use of the word "Oriental."



I'd be pleased to call Herman and CC whatever they want me to call them but, honestly, no Asian epithet ever crossed my mind when thinking of those two. Yes, other epithets come to mind, sure, but none of them Asian.



I'm rather thinking more of folks like Azhya or Zetsu or the folks mentioned in my post upthread, for instance.



On the flip side, I've never been called an "Occidental," but I've been called a "Westerner" (which means the same thing) a gazillion times. While I never saw the word "Westerner" as a slur, maybe that's simply because I was born and live in an "occidentocentric" part of the world.



I've never put much stock in identity politics so I've rarely paid much attention to all this, but I do get your point.
