I think Canada is in good hands, it's just our nice neighbour south isn't unfortunately.  I understand it's their country and they have the rights to do as they please, but I really do wish, they'll one day see through and get out of this vicious cycle.

There are landowners in the US that need their rifles too. It's a tool in some environments.

I can understand living in the countryside is a different story, I might be against guns, but it's mainly the type of guns commonly used by criminals or can be easily consealed.  Tbh I think Bricktop might have similar opinions too about this, I'm sure he understands the risk of walking on a trail or in a forest and bumping into a bear or a pack of wolves can get ugly if the person doesn't have a rifle.

I could be wrong, but I believe Bricktop opposes long guns used for hunting or eradicating pest animals too.

President Joe Biden's claims that there are no background checks at firearms sales at gun shows have drawn criticism, with fact-checking websites saying that it is false.

According to federal law, commercial sales of guns have to be performed by an individual with a Federal Firearms License (FFL), who then has to perform a mandatory background check of the buyer and a record of sale, regardless of whether the sale occurs at the seller's place of business, a gun show, or elsewhere.

I believe background checks help curbs the number of illegal firearms, but I think it's more complicated and messy than it really is.  I'm not an American, but there just seems to be too much guns in the community, even Walmart in the US sells firearms.  Even if it reduce the number of legal gun owners selling their guns to the black market for a very high price, a lot of them are stolen too from families and gun shops IIRC.  ac_unsure

I'm a fisherman, not a hunter. But, I support their right to hunt.

There should be no bans on rifles. Like Herman said, they serve useful purposes.

So are knives, but both can be used to kill people.

I oppose hunting, but that is a separate issue to gun control.

I have NO issue with firearms being used by primary producers, or for those who's job takes them into areas where dangerous animals may inhabit. Eradicating of pest animals is a tricky one...because the biggest pest animal of them all are human.

"Pest" animals have lived in the environment for many thousands of years. Invading their space is not, in my view, justification in killing them. The human condition which gives rise to the principle that killing that which stands in our way is why we have wars.

It is not them who are damaging our environment, it is us damaging theirs.

My views are purely against private gun ownership simply on the pretext that owning a gun makes you "safer". Or without any valid purpose. EVERY gun manufactured is a "legal" gun, and EVERY legal gun is designed for one purpose; to kill.

The numbers do not lie. Australia is far safer now than before the ban of certain firearms, and America is dangerous because American's believe owning guns is a right! So far, not a single contributor to this debate has challenged that premise.

Carrying a knife in a public place is a crime in Australia, and the UK.

How many mass murderers use knives?

Yet Dinky does not work with reason. Or fact. He thinks he needs a gun. To protect himself.

Let us remind ourselves that he is an American living in Australia.
