The freezer portion is limping along....

It was bought new through my work 12 years ago and required no service ever since. Had to convince my wife it was not worth fixing now... probably just a relay switch or fan....but the call put is the same as a new fridge.

This time around we got a flip lid deep freezer.

We're going to use a 40 litre camp fridge for butter, eggs, milk, juice, and the odd leftovers..

We have so many power outages here each year, the fridge seems worthless. I'm tired of it... I'd rather keep stuff deep froze and run a small fridge on a battery. The freezer can be run with a small generator an hour or two each day.

Our house is beginning to look like a campsite... just saying... all that's left is for me to stake a few tarps to collect rain water...

Fuck the Victorian government here in Oz...

It was a fantastic unit.... got it for 40 percent off through an old workplace... I think it was close to 780 bucks AUD (roughly the same in CAD)...that was in 2009 or 2010.

I could have gone back there because I left on good terms and I still know people who could escort me to the onsight shop, but we couldn't wait for 1-2 weeks for refrigeration....particularly a freezing unit. Meat is meatz! ac_biggrin

Fridges don't last as long as they used to.

Frood

Nothing lasts long unless you pay for it.... we're using a 40 litre Engel camp fridge we bought 6 years ago to freeze ice packs and water bottles to transfer to a small cooler to keep some cheeses and cured meats safe to eat in the coming days... we would have used it as a fridge but it was mostly full of frozen meatz already... lulz
