I'm curious why you said that... considering the timeframe in which you served in. I encountered the tail end of it in the mid nineties and was pleasantly surprised in most encounters yet horrified by more than a few.

It was a time before body cameras and evidence based stops.

It all came down to the discretion of the people bailing me up for some suspected infraction, or something purely imagined in a fabrication of falsehoods and semi-truths.

I quickly realised that here in Oz, it didn't matter if a detained person was right or wrong... the actual hurdle was dealing with punch drunk authoritarians who needed to be dealt with like delicate petals, their egos stroked, and their discretionary senses triggered far enough either overtly but mostly towards sublimely write off potential busts real or mostly imagined....

I'd play along with these interactions to a point, but if I was getting tailed for 20-30k's in Victorian bushland and getting nearly rammed up the arse, I'd signal with my indicators, signal with my arm out the window, and come to an abrupt and dusty stop on the side of the road with my fucking licence held out the window for their convenience.

Australian cops weren't really soiled until after 9/11...

...and they've gone off the deep end ever since.

Just look at my state of Victoria these days to witness how far we've fallen as a nation.

My "No" related to the meme not being humorous...rather a more accurate reflection of where we are in our history. The Fall is closer than we think. Not imminent, nor unavoidable...but close.

It may surprise you to know that those of us outside of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Victoria do not judge the entire nation by your plight. Most of us live in a less dictatored circumstance. Victoria, despite what its citizens may think, is not "the nation".

That said, it is clear that those outside your North Korean enclave are grateful to be so. I would not travel there while Comrade Dan is in power.

But, whilst we agree that your State is under tyranny unprecedented in Australia's history, one question keeps coming to mind.

Why do you keep voting him in?

Last I checked, you still live in democratic principles of electing politicians. How does Kim Jong Dan keep getting the votes?

As I have stated more than once in posts here, you have my sympathy...to a point. Just like the Canadians bemoaning Trudeau, and the Yanks tearing at Biden...you voted them in!!! Self inflicted stupidity, as far as I can tell.

I didnt vote for the fuckwit...

Urban champagne socialists probably love the clown.

Seldom anywhere in Canada does a party win that big.

It's massive. Bear in mind, also, that voting is compulsory. So it's fair to claim that 60% of Victorians prefer a Marxist leader.

90% of the rest of Australia find him repugnant.

They may find him as repugnant as I do and a recently growing number of Victorians who previously were his cheerleaders but a lot of his directives have been copied or reproduced in part by other states and territories relating to lockdowns, mandates....

This Emergency Dictator powers act got more people to sit up and say wtf.
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

Trying to draw other States into commonality with Comrade Dan's Soviet Union is ludicrous.

Of course States will sometimes act with common interest in times of crisis. We are still a Federation.

That does not mean that because we close our borders as you do in Victoria, we align ourselves with Dictator Dan.

He is a Victorian blight...not an Australian problem.

The draconian measures he has forced on Victorians has gotten the media's attention here too.

So other states and territories aren't instituting no jab, no job... and medical apartheid? QR codes, covid camps, kill shot passports?
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

Didn't I say that Victoria is not acting alone in some of these measures?

And I think I've made my position clear on mandatory jabs, masks and "passports".

However, the SA government has not mandated jabs as far as I know. I don't know about the other States, although we should note that WA's premier is catching up with Dictator Dan in terms of harsh and unreasonable measures.

I'm pretty certain no other State seeks to give its Premier powers that Stalin would envy. I reckon Bendigo would be a good place for the concentration camps for dissidents. What about you?

Frood

Don't forget Qld, and especially the NT... even NSW walked back their December 4th full freedom day with the again moved goalposts of 95% jab rate. WA are idiots and SA and Tas are playing musical chairs too.

All regions are violating human rights but Dan is taking it to, like you mentioned, Stalin levels...

A 95 percent full vaccination rate is a lofty goal. Possibly a pipe dream.
