The German dictatorship kept meticulous records. We do know the Jewish population of Europe was about nine million before the war and about three million at the end of world war 2. We know the Roma population of Europe was slightly less than one million in 1939 but declined by about one half million at the end of world war 2.



There were thousands of pieces of evidence submitted at the Nuremberg trial. Goebbels, and Himmler spoke of genocide against a number of peoples. The world never knew exact numbers, but the evidence is clear a genocide happened.
