Just depends. The cornbread I was raised with (mother and grandmother) was always made from scratch and sugar was not added. The box mixes tend to have sugar. I prefer no sugar. Sugarless tastes better with the soups, beans, peas and chili's you put over it.

Corn is naturally sweet.....no sugar is necessary.
