That's an oft-repeated opinion but it's not reflected in reality.

Even alleged capitalist/libertarian experiments like Argentina can't austerity their way to prosperity (a lovely little contradiction in terms, innit) and need 60 billion dollars (20 billion from the IMF followed by 40 billion from Trump) to stave off disaster while nations labeled "socialist" or "communist" like Cuba and Venezuela continue to function despite years or decades of severe sanctions, blockades, weaponized propaganda, and both military and covert interventionist projects.

Objectively it's clear which systems are resilient and which are frangible.

It was socialism/planned economy that got Argentina into the mess it is in now. Before Peronist socialism they living standards among the highest in the world. That money that they owe accumulated because Peronist socialism.

President Millei inherited hyperinflation, inefficient unsustainable public spending, negative net foreign exchange reserves, and the fiscal deficit was out of control. Inflation has come down to pre 2023 crisis levels, the economy has shown signs of recovery, consumer and investor confidence are on the rise, and government bonds have regained much of their value.

What is the problem now? A return to Peronism that got Argentina into the mess Millei inherited in the first place. Before Millei, President Macri had some success with free market economics only to have it undone and a return to Peronism. It is always one step forward and three steps back into the socialist quicksand with Argentina. And it looks like their midterms will produce that result.

Venezuela is another example of a formerly successful resourcew based economy that has become ,malnourished thanks to nationalism/socialism. They got so broke they sold some of their best oilfields to China.

As for Cuba, the only part of their economy that lifts people out of poverty are the sectors open to foreign investment, ie tourism. I have been to Cuba. It is a country where a seaside resort bilingual customer service agent can make more money and have higher living standards than a doctor at a state owned hospital.

Cuba's agriculture industry remains inefficient and a poverty trap due tobans on free market investments/innovations.

Socialism/commmunism/planned economies or however one chooses to define it are straightjackets on rising living standards.

The issue is not even maximizing profit, although that is all Pakis think about. The issue is the Liberal government of Canada allowing these raghead snake owners of every Tim's in Canada to make labour dirt cheap by making it easier to hire a foreigner than a Canadian teenager.

Those smelly greedy Pakis get the best of both worlds. They can sell the TFW visa to somebody in India who pays up to fifty grand for each visa. Consider the average Timmy's might have twenty five TFW employees. That is $1.25 million they have collected to get an employee here who cannot quit to find a better paying job. They use that money to buy more franchises and hire more TFW's.

Working in fast food places is a crappy entry level job in any country. I know because I worked in two of them during my high school years. But, the current system of letting Paki fast food franchisees screw Canadian kids out of jobs by hiring foreign workers who cannot quit is keeping wages lower than they should be and making a job nobody wants to do long term worse than it has to be.

Eastern Europe, China, Vietnam and North Korea are proof scientific socialism doesn't work anywhere.
