Quote from: Biggie Smiles on June 24, 2024, 02:29:37 PMCould anyone who despises the free market approach to health care explain why Lasik Eve Surgery costs an average 2,000.00 per eye on the open market while the tax payer is billed through the medicare Ponzi an average of 15,000 to take someone's blood pressure in an ER?

I don't trust the markets to have total control either. I think Canada should follow every country in Europe's example and have a private alternative to take the pressure off the public option.

Here is one of the key problems afflicting our health care system. A culture of me-ism fuck everyone else-ism.

The US has the highest cases of medical malpractice and ""disability"" freeloading ventures in the world. Whereas countries which boast an effectively administered Universal health care system do not tolerate riff raff looking for a free ride to do so at the expense of the system.  Switzerland being one such example.

here, we cater to the lowest common denominator society has to offer and are therefore stuck with a myriad of losers claiming injury and compensation for all kinds of shit they have no business obtaining.

Thus, driving up the costs of care exponentially.

Couple that with our non-existent migration enforcement strategy and you are left with hospitals FORCED to care for a huge influx of migrants free of charge then turning around and OVER CHARGING the dwindling population of covered persons just to recoup massive losses.

About 3 months ago I visited the local ER and spent about 2 hours there. They took my temperature, did my blood pressure, had a resident doc talk to me for 15 minutes and prescribed some medication.

What did they charge my insurance company for all of that? 12,897.92 to be exact.

and we wonder why insurance coverage is so high?

That's not government incompetence.
That's greed and corruption working exactly as designed.

That's Big Insurance kicking back lots of money to politicians and political parties to ensure they can charge outrageous prices for essentially providing the unnecessary service of taking a piece of paper from your doctor then handing it to the government and billing the government whatever the fuck they want.

I'm not sure about Medicaid but Medicare isn't a government program anymore, not really. People have to have MedicarePlus and MedicarePartB and all this happy horseshit that's run by Humana or some other parasitic for-profit insurance company.

THAT'S why the shit's expensive. The insurance companies bribe politicians to let them overcharge the hell out of everything and since the government prints its own money who fucking cares, eh?

'Follow the money' isn't just a cliche... it can also be a major component of a battle plan.

No, go down and find out just how cheap diagnostic tests are if you pay in cash. Once you do, you'll be able to follow the bread crumbs back to the REAL culprit, nanny gubmints

Obviously we need some type of reset that both acknowledges and addresses concerns and realities on all sides of the Asile.

The insured, the providers and the insurers. All have valid concerns from the insurance carriers down to the providers and cannot be shut out of the discussion due to some perceived notion they are "teh evil rich guys" And we must adopt the Robin Hood mentality because TeH Poor! Every society has Teh Poor, and more often than not they are Teh Poor due to their own laziness, self entitlement, or whatever. Not in ALL cases, but a substantial amount fall squarely into that group. So you go ahead and penalize a productive crosssection of your economy in favor of catering to a bum who wants to sit around, smoke weed and play video games all day.

Fuck that.

I say work with the Providers and Carriers to address many of the issues I outlined previously . yes they are rich, yes they are mostly evil, but you can rely upon a rich evil guy do what is best in his own self interest and so you present the case to him this way.

We (the gov) will drive down operating expenses of providers by (X)%  through strong border policies, difficult thresholds to prevail in both malpractice and disability cases (which take into account the population which genuinely have a  legit grievance)    which should then in tern see a significant decrease in accounts payable on the part of Insurance carriers.

As this milestone begins to flesh itself out we EXPECT your cost of premium to go down proportionately -- overall being commensurate with the savings you are enjoying. And if they dont, hefty fines which far exceed your PNL will be imposed.

THAT is how you address the problem. Collectively. Not with some stupid draconian idea that Rich man rich Rich man bad.

Yeah rich man is rich, yeah rich man is rich man bad, and you play that angle as a negotiating tool. Because I don't care what any dweeb says. A 4 dollar profit margin is still a 4 dollar profit margin whether it exists above a 100.00 accounts receivable or a 100,000.00 accounts receivable

And please, don't follow the typical democrat play book of invoking the types of policies which cause a player like Walmart to say "yes we raised that package of beef from 3.19 a lb to 5.15 a lb but that was due to gas rising from 2.89 to 4.00 bucks) with ZERO explanation as to why, if that were truly the case, why that same pack of meat is still 5.19 and hasn't seen even the most modest of downward trends in pricing.

So yeah, if you ever wondered why some filthy fucking rich bastard whom you dems claim to hate so much is literally chomping at the bit to support you? that's why

I think those Urgent Care operations I see popping up all over the country proves my point rather clearly.

It has literally come down to this. Should I visit the Urgent care and pay 175.00 for similar care as to what I would receive in an ER minus the luxury of being wheeled through an elevator should I require additional treatment options?

Or, pay the 100.00 copay for exactly the same outcome 99.0% of the time and continue handing over 1200.00 per month in insurance premiums.

Were it not for the fear of the unknown and possibility of having to go under a knife I'd clearly choose the urgent care option 10 out of 10 times and know plenty of very intelligent professionals doing just that

Nope. not even close. Its 10,000% the governments fault.

You know government regulations control how much insurance companies make, right? Profits are federally regulated.
My son in law doesnt make quite $400,000yr as an ER doctor. In the 90's, a radiologist made $400,000K yr.
You know the federal and state governments price control everything from how much an ambulance ride costs to how much they'll pay for a wheelchair. 100% of the drug costs that government pays is negotiated and regulated for way LESS than what fair market value is AND they slow pay.

The problem with "you people" is you always think government is the answer when it is ALWAYS the problem.

I know a State of Illinois data analyst who is involved with setting all these rates. Its a hilarious scam the gubmints runs on medicine. Basically, they force all entities to accept less and the only way for them to survive is by overcharging private pay. Its as simple as that. Government is the problem.

It is 100% the government's fault as they are the ones that drive the types of polices which directly impact ALL areas of the economy and quality of life.

Case in point and I go back to my very salient example of the price of a pound of ground meat.

It is our Government's fault our proxy puppet gov instigated Putin to invade them and therefore it is our government's fault in the subsequent rise in fuel cost. A rise that the BILLIONAIRES at the top of the walmart empire used to justify a nearly 100% increase in that pound of meat. And it wasn't just walmart but nearly every other facet of our economy was affected.

And now fuel prices have normalized what happened? Well logic would have dictated if that 2 dollar per gallon price increase on fuel was the business driver to justify raising that pound meat then you should see a proportionate decrease of the same when fuel prices decrease by the same

but you didn't. did you? So now I ask, if all things remain nearly equal what is your adjusted profit margin on that pound of ground meat now that it went from 3.19 to 5.14 when your operating expenses are now at similar levels to where they were when the meat was originally 3.19 a pound?

In my mind Walmart is enjoying a nearly 2 dollar per pound of meat profit margin as opposed to this time in 2021.

Imagine that.

So is it any wonder why the biggest doners to the democrat base are these billionaire institutions and the crime families who support them?

In Illinois, they raised the gas taxes about the time prices decreased. I just got off the phone with a guy who delivers farm fuel and oil and he says more taxes are on the way!!!

She'd be dumb enough to say that it's 17.99 because of Trump and will balloon into 45.00 lb under a second term.

And admong would indeed just go into a spam spree of silly memes to show the world how much TDS he is suffering
