Yeah it is. Brawl Hall fucked it up beyond all recognition long before you showed up, they fucked it up by flooding their site with examples of everything but along with a bunch of assclowns who associated flaming with destroying peoples reputation and lives.

Deny it all you like, but the example served you and which you adopted was not flaming, no matter how many untalented incompetents assured you it was.

It was a porn portal. That's what drove the lion's share of its Alexa rankings. Site owner Wheeliebin was shown how to monetize bot traffic and lined his pockets with the result. The second most active part of the site was the Usenet portal, with that Flame section running a distant third.

Of course, having a few warm bums on seats (and doubtless a few sweaty palms doing aerobics routines under the paunches) was pretty much what the bot traffic was there for. Much of what arrived in the form of new registrations post 2004 were only too happy to oblige, in between wanking on about how amazing they were as they rigged the polls for proof.

"Overrated" does not cover it, yet I see enough of the tells in pretty much every site that modelled themselves after BH's flame subforum to know that not much has changed.

 I was highly uncomfortable at BH directly because of the porn.
