So I'm having my youngest daughter (I call her Squish) grow caterpillars into butterflies and teaching her about metamorphosis.

....

When I taught preschool I raised silkworms with the kids.  Had a Mulberry tree in my backyard too.  : )

We are enjoying this so much that we are getting milkweed plants and are going to raise Monarchs next.   This September we are going to raise bull frog tadpoles. It takes a year for them to become adults so I figure we can start this fall and by the end of next summer have bull frogs to put in the garden.
My happiness is all of your misery. I put good dick all in my kidneys.

Dove, what purpose do bullfrogs in a garden serve?

I think you'll need to have a decorative pond in your garden.

"As we previously mentioned, bullfrogs are wonderful animals to have living in your backyard if you have a man-made pond. This is actually an ideal living situation for them. Because they will have access to natural day and night cycles, natural seasonal weather shifts, and natural food sources, you really won't have much work to do as far as maintaining their health is concerned.

Outdoor pond life will allow your bullfrogs to reproduce, hibernate, and enjoy a natural life cycle. They will happily croak out the classic frog mating call during the appropriate season, engage in mating rituals, and eventually fill your outdoor pond with tadpoles and froglets.

If you should choose to keep your pet bullfrogs outdoors in your backyard, we highly recommend an enclosure or fence around your yard or pond. Bullfrogs are great escape artists and they can and will invade surrounding habitats and drive out the native species."  -teh internet

There IS a pond back there.

It's not a decorative pond. It's a large man made pond. But if we released the frogs out back in garden area they would have no trouble getting to the pond. We have seen many bull frogs out there.

I was going to try to nab the wild tadpoles but....ewww lol

So these are painted lady caterpillars getting ready to pupate

And here they are in their chrysalis stage

We have 4, this one fell during pupation

We put it on a napkin at the bottom of the butterfly habitat and it should still hatch.

And I really like the word "pupate" lol

Hello Dovey... if you teach your daughter stuff like this then she could grow up to be a doctor. I am serious.
