Leave their trash can outside with tons of Black Bears around?.... Then I have the joy to listen to it be smashed around with dogs baking going AWOL  in the wee hours of the morning :oeudC:

What's the solution? If the cans were in the back yard would the bears try climb over the fence or what? And what happens on collection day...given that everyone puts out their trash the evening before?

Most put it out on  the day of pickup due to this very issue and yes we kind of have to budget for some fence repairs once or twice a year on average.

I would try electrifying the fence or install a motion-sensor spot light or water jet to freak them out.

I definately would not be cool with bears just hanging out in my yard. Yikes.

We had a black bear that would poke her head in our tent over a summer... maybe every 1-2 weeks. They're quite timid if you yell and growl in unison...
Blahhhhhh...

Yeah. I know we have them in the UP and sometimes one will work it's way down. Not by me....but off the UP.

I still would definately not wanna be taking out my trash and seeing bear out bearing about in my yard lol

I'd still prefer a black bear compared to an eastern brown snake or tiger snake in my tent...

I'd prefer none but I agree with this on the basis that you see the bear coming and have a better fighting then if a venomous snake comes quietly slithering for warmth and kills you for existing lol

I have ghetto neighbors who leave their cans out all week. It's pure laziness.
