A former FBI supervisory special agent has allegedly confirmed key portions of an IRS whistleblower's testimony that President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, received preferential treatment during an investigation into felony tax crimes, according to the House Oversight Committee.



"Today, a former FBI supervisory special agent assigned to the FBI's Wilmington office and the Biden criminal investigation confirmed key portions of the IRS whistleblower's testimony," committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said in a July 17 statement.



Mr. Comer did not reveal the identity of the former FBI agent.



He further claimed that the night before the interview of Hunter Biden, "both Secret Service headquarters and the Biden transition team were tipped off about the planned interview."



"On the day of the Hunter Biden interview, federal agents were told to stand by and could not approach Hunter Biden—they had to wait for his call. As a result of the change in plans, IRS and FBI criminal investigators never got to interview Hunter Biden as part of the investigation," he continued.

Tommy Douglas, the founding father of the federal New Democratic Party and Canada's health-care system, is under review as a national historic figure, according to Blacklock's Reporter.



The Historic Sites and Monuments Board is taking a second look at his "controversial beliefs and behaviour," which included advocating for unwed mothers to be sterilized.



In 2019, a federal plaque was unveiled in Regina in Douglas' honour. The board at the time described him as a "skilled politician, witty orator and advocate for social justice."



Douglas was also crowned the "Greatest Canadian" in 2004 following a call-in and online vote held by the CBC.



While attending McMaster University in 1933, Douglas wrote a master's thesis that advocated government measures against people with "low mental rating" or "moral standards below normal who are delinquent."



Those people included unwed mothers, prostitutes and others who were a financial burden to society. His thesis was based on a dozen welfare families in Weyburn, Sask. during the Depression.



In a June 1934 article, Douglas praised the "science of eugenics," the sterilization of people regarded unfit for society.



"The rising generation will tend to build a heaven on earth rather than to live in misery in the hope of gaining some uncertain reward in the dim, distant future," he wrote.



Douglas, who became Saskatchewan premier and health minister in 1944 and founded the NDP in 1961, rejected a eugenics program.



The Historic Sites and Monuments Board also said it was checking about 2,100 historic commemorations dating from 1919 for "outdated or offensive terms or word choices" and "an absence of a significant layer of history most frequently associated with the exclusion of Indigenous peoples."
