House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, was pulled as the GOP nominee for speaker on Friday after three failed ballots.

I agree that the secret ballot was the main reason.  It allows the corrupt to hide their corruption and avoid accountability to voters.  Jordan wanted to force hard votes to identify RINOs so they could be primaries and kicked out.  He wanted to promote real fiscal conservatives and the swamp creatures didn't like that.
