Walz became governor in January 2019, just before the coronavirus pandemic began, and imposed stringent lockdowns during the pandemic that have been criticized by some small business owners in the state.

He was re-elected in 2022, and during his second term, he signed sweeping tax reforms in Minnesota, which has the highest corporate tax rate of any state in the U.S. at 9.8%, according to the Tax Foundation.

Jared Walczak, vice president of state projects at the Tax Foundation, told FOX Business that under Walz, Minnesota has been an outlier in consistently raising taxes, noting that most states have cut taxes in recent years.

"Tim Walz inherited the nation's highest corporate income tax rate and sixth-highest individual income tax rate, and then drove tax burdens higher," Walczak said.

He explained, "As governor, Walz signed legislation expanding taxation of businesses' international income, curtailed standard and itemized deductions for many taxpayers, added a surtax on the investment income of high earners, created a new payroll tax that will go into effect in 2026, and imposed a new tax on retail deliveries. "

Since Walz has been at the helm, the North Star State has significantly under-performed the greater U.S. in both economic growth and employment growth rates.

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis shows Minnesota's economy has grown 6.2% under Walz's leadership, while the U.S. economy has grown 11.5% over the same time frame, according to an analysis by Reuters.

Tim Walz was subpoenaed for records related to a $250 million alleged fraud scheme during the pandemic.

The massive fraud scheme involved funds being paid out to a nonprofit called "Feeding Our Future" that claimed to be set up to help feed poor children in Minnesota but instead apparently stole millions to enrich the plotters.

House Education and Workforce Committee Chair Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) says that Walz, who is the governor of Minnesota, was unresponsive to a request for information about the alleged scam. Although some documents have been produced for the committee, Foxx says that they were not produced in a timely matter nor did they answer her questions about Walz's oversight of the program.

A U.S. attorney charged 70 people in relation to the scam in 2022, and to date, five individuals have been convicted of fraud. Others are awaiting trial on charges including bribery, wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering. Officials say that the stolen money was used to buy real estate, luxury cars, and other illegal purchases.

An audit found that Minnesota's Department of Education failed to catch warning signs of fraud from the nonprofit and didn't force organizers to meet program requirements.

"After MDE, under Governor Walz, failed to respond to previous attempts by the Committee to garner information necessary to uncover how the Governor and the USDA allowed such fraud to occur, the Committee today is proceeding with a subpoena to compel responses," wrote Foxx.

"This was an appalling abuse of a federal COVID-era program," read a statement from a Walz spokesperson to Axios.

The Axios report said that some Republicans are uneasy about the subpoena because of the possibility of political backlash from the appearance of political motivation.

Lying, pppr governance and corruption characterize Walz's lack of character.

...and yet for all Walz's alleged flaws another VP might have uncovered similar scandals, only worse.

People kept saying choose that Gov Shapiro guy in Pennsylvania. However he had that sex scandal problem where there was a big payoff involving a friend of his (a Republican actually) which wouldn't have gone over well with the Democrats female base, many who said they wouldn't vote for Harris if she nominated Shapiro.

Seems many voters are more willing to turn a blind eye to the Pandemic where many were complicit in something which adversely affected most people rather than a sex scandal like Shapiro's administration was tainted with.

Hmmm, so the US economy actually grew during the Biden administration, hey avatar_Herman Herm? According to Youse that's about 3% per year.
