The religion of peace is at it again.
QuoteMore than a dozen hostages are being held inside a central Sydney, Australia cafe where a black flag with white Arabic writing could be seen in the window, local television showed on Monday, raising fears of an attack linked to Islamic militants.

Australia, which is backing the United States and its escalating action against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, is on high alert for attacks by radicalized Muslims or by home-grown fighters returning from fighting in the Middle East.

Part of Martin Place, home to the Reserve Bank of Australia, commercial banks and close to the New South Wales (NSW) state parliament, was closed off by armed police.

Live television footage showed an estimated 13 patrons inside the Lindt Chocolate Café in Martin Place standing with their hands pressed against the windows. A black and white flag similar to those used by Islamic State militants in Iraq and Syria was also visible.

NSW Police tweeted: "A police operation is underway in Martin Place, Sydney's CBD. People are advised to avoid the area."

Dozens of police including a SWAT team were setting up and a couple of hundred people were being held back by cordons.

Trains and buses were stopped and roads were blocked in the area, with train operators saying there had been a bomb threat at Martin Place. Airspace over the area has also been closed.

An Australian Broadcasting Corporation reporter said gunfire had been heard at the scene, the BBC reported, but this has not been confirmed. Major landmarks in the city such as the Sydney Opera House have been evacuated.

The U.S. consulate issued a statement warning its citizens "of a security incident involving at least one armed person at Lindt Chocolate Café in Martin Place in Sydney. New South Wales and Australian Federal police are addressing the threat. Please avoid the area around Martin Place until further notice."

The CIA knows there's a dirty bomb in a US city. They have someone in custody who knows the exact location of it. They should not rule out using any method possible to persuade the suspect to reveal the location of the bomb.
QuoteChristmas came early for liberals last week. A report from the U.S. Senate confessed that the CIA engaged in torture, that it did so secretly and without government approval, and the torture didn't actually yield any useful intelligence information.

Enemy media like Qatar's state-controlled Al Jazeera and Russia's Kremlin-run RT were delighted to report this news. But they were reserved compared to the orgasmic excitement from Canada's journalists. At last, all of the Media Party's liberal fantasies were proved true: America was immoral, the terrorists were victims, the CIA and U.S. military were discredited.

Except none of that is true.

The report was not issued by the U.S. Senate. It was issued by the Democratic Party alone, under the direction of a far-left San Francisco liberal named Dianne Feinstein.

Republican senators disagreed with the report and opposed it – they wrote a refutation of it, pointing out obvious flaws, such as the Democrats condemned the CIA's interrogation procedures without bothering to interview a single person involved with them. They cherry-picked their way through documents to construct the most embarrassing depiction of the CIA possible. Of course they didn't interview anyone, including the CIA director himself. That could spoil their pre-planned narrative. Indeed, several Democrat CIA directors have since condemned the report as inaccurate.

The report is not a legitimate document. There is an important role for congressional oversight of the CIA, just as we in Canada have civilian oversight of CSIS. But that was not the purpose of this report. There are no recommendations in it for improved procedures. It is just a dump of classified military secrets, not much different from what Julian Assange or Edward Snowden did, except they don't pretend to be loyal Americans, like the U.S. Democratic Party does.

Sen. Feinstein herself acknowledged that one reason she released this smear now is that next month Republicans will take control of the U.S. Senate, including of the Intelligence Committee that Feinstein chairs. She's 81 – this is her last hurrah, her last chance to indulge old grudges and feuds.

But the program she denounces is the one that she and her party oversaw. For six years she has been the top congressional overseer of the CIA. No one other than Barack Obama himself had as much access or authority over what the CIA did.

The Democrats controlled the Senate Intelligence Committee from 2001 to 2003 – when the CIA was pressed into emergency service after 9/11. Democrats and Republicans alike demanded the CIA do everything possible to stop the next 9/11.

Not through rogue torture or secret prisons, as the Media Party's dark daydreams suggest. If they actually read the report, they would see that it was enhanced interrogation – the use of sleep deprivation, the use of white noise, disorientation – not torture. The CIA says a grand total of three terrorists were waterboarded – simulating the terror of drowning -- although the Senate report suggests there were more. They weren't drowned, of course – that wouldn't be much use for interrogating someone. These interrogation techniques were proposed by the CIA, reviewed by the Department of Justice, approved by the Senate Committee, and executed by the White House.

One of the terrorists who was waterboarded was Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of 9/11 itself. His interrogation not only taught the CIA about al-Qaida's nature and structure, but also about specific operations that it was planning. It even helped point the way to the eventual raid on Osama bin Laden.

The 9/11 attacks were just 13 years ago. Have we really forgotten the horror of nearly 3,000 civilians murdered by Islamic terrorists, of men and women in the World Trade Center being forced to choose between being burned alive, or jumping 100 floors to their death?

Is 13 years really all it takes for us to rename terrorists as victims, and rename the CIA that protected us – Canadians too – as torturers?

The CIA did not torture terrorists. They interrogated them to save us – gleaning information not available through Obama's preferred tactic of unmanned drone strikes.

Which also happens to kill nearby civilians. No document leak from Feinstein on that.

There are unconfirmed reports that the police made an arrest of one gunman. They have thirteen hostages. The hostages are being forced to hold up the Islamic state flag. This is not the first time Australia has had trouble with Islamic slime either. It's time to stop allowing these mooslim slime into Australia and Canada.

It seems the flag the Islamists are using is a generic jihadist flag and not an ISIS one. The square is the same place jihadists were going to pick someone at random and behead them. Australia has had sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni groups. They also have more foreign fighters than Canada.

The gunman holding people hostage in a Sydney cafe has been identified as an Iranian refugee who was on bail for a string of violent offences.

He's acting alone then I see. When I first read this on CBC last night they implied there were multiple gunmen. That's a good thing....I think?

The last I heard is that 5 of the 13 hostages had been released.

cc

Seems they got out of it with only one hostage killed.

An Iranian turned Sunni went all jihadi .... exactly as exampled by and instructed by Mo

Edit - make that at least 2 hostages murdered + others wounded + the Islamic perp shot daid

The cops did well to keep many more from being killed

Apparently the café was not his plan - rather he ran in there after being reported for hassling some females  - As it was in the  Aussie Fed building and also near the Premier's office they figure them to be his likely intentions  ... then things went sideways on him when he typical of islamists  shot off his mouth prematurely

Is it over now? I didn't know he did kill one hostage. It doesn't sound like it was premeditated, but then again what is with the Islamo flag.

I'll check the latest developments.

That 3 dead includes the hostage taker himself. The deaths all occurred after police stormed the cafe, so I don't know the details of who killed who.
