Damn, that was your career for most of your working life?

This is a damn good thread topic. I am retired from a career working overseas in the upstream oil patch.

Oh no. It was a minimum wage part-time gig at a small town AM station while I was in school. But, I did enjoy it.

My best friend (may he rest in peace) worked overseas for Halliburton. Yeah, he traveled a lot.

I worked for Halliburton overseas. I worked for Schlumberger abroad too.

Quote from: Herman on February 22, 2025, 07:05:20 PMBrother, that is some fine detective work.  :good:
My respect level for Page and Zep has just taken a nosedive.
Heh, Zepp was sued by yet another band for copyright infringement and Zepp actually won, amigo. Here are the two songs in controversy:

Taurus by Spirit:

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin:

I don't have as much respect for Zep anymore, but they deserved to win that one.

The Slickee Boys formed in 1976 and didn't call it quits until 1991. Based in Washington D.C., they came up with this song that cracks me up every time I hear it. Listen to the lyrics and you'll get what I mean:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Silence of the Lambs, anyone?   :yeahhh:

I could've put this in the 1960s thread, but decided it fits best here. The Knickerbockers were a New Jersey band formed in 1964 and this song actually reached #20 on the charts in 1965. It's a really good tune, but the most interesting thing about it is that so many people thought it was The Beatles. Hear for yourself:

Amen.

I saw this band play this song on TV years ago. At the time, I thought the song would be a hit.  And I thought it was a clever band name.

Well, the song did not become a hit.  I have since learned they were from Cleveland and cut one album. Oh, and I have the album. I still think that for 1980, it shoulda been a hit:

Time and time again over what has become many years and counting, it is reaffirmed to me that there is an incredible amount of great music out there that sees little to no light of day.  Of course, there are now far more opportunities for songs to take flight, thanks to the Internet. In fact, but for the Internet, it is beyond highly  unlikely I would've ever heard this song:

Midwest Kings, a Tulsa band, has been around since 2001. Former member David Cook, won the 7th season of American Idol in 2008.  This song is from Midwest King's third album and it righteously cooks:

Amen.
Deo vindice
